3g sunsetting BUT 4G will be installed !!!

Some good news when I went to make an appointment today at my dealer . looks like they will be providing 4g as part of a recall. I scheduled my service for feb 26th hopefully they do this at same time i added it to the appointment

AT&T has announced its plan to discontinue its 3G network in the U.S. starting in February 2022. This will impact the Audi connect services in certain 2017-2019 model year Audi vehicles. Under this service action Audi is offering customers a software update. Eligible vehicles will also receive a hardware update at no expense to the vehicle owner. The software update will deactivate the vehicles 3G service capability so that error messages do not continually appear once 3G is no longer available. The hardware update will be to install a 4G LTE connected car adapter. The hardware update addresses a majority of the telematics-based services impacted by the sunset of 3G wireless service through a new service, Motion for Audi connect.

WOW thanks for heads up , I never search the other model forums . I thought this was newly released.

There was also a few people that said they had it done and they cant see it and wasn't a hack job . I'll have to talk to the dealer prior as all I really want ti for is to unlock lock my doors dont use anything else and it looks like that still wont work

I just called Audi 877 505 2834 to ask about the unlock/lock feature and she claims it will work once I have the upgrade done and the dealer states he hasn't tried it but hasnt had any complaints that it doesnt . Can some one confirm if it really does work after ?

The new 4g module is installed in different locations depending on the model. On Q5 It's installed behind the dash panel and cannot be seen.

Considering that the OBDII port is in the same place on all cars the locations model to model are not all that different.

The A4/S4 has it in the left cubby taking up most of the room.

I had the update done and I’m not aware of the lock/unlock feature in the app anywhere.
