Hey guys - I'm a mac user but looking to tune, so I need a windows laptop. Any other mac users in here... what did you do in this situation? Just buy a cheap used windows comp or something? Anyone have one they want to let go of?

You could find a cheap windows 10 tablet with usb on ebay.

There are also a bunch of options for running windows on your mac.

Suggest getting a battery charger when you load the flash. Wouldn’t want your battery to die in the middle of it.

I could be wrong but I believe running Windows on a Mac is discouraged for tuning purposes. Apparently some people have had issues. The tuners all recommend a native Windows device.

Okay. Well that answered my next question. I just used boot camp as it was the easiest. Maybe look into repartitioning and grab an external SSD?

I've also heard this. Was hoping to go the true microsoft route. I guess I'll just pick up a cheap used laptop or something

I bought a $250 hp laptop from Best Buy. Works just fine. Feels like a kids toy and not the fastest but flashes ecu’s just fine and runs vcds. Just stay away from mobile processors.

I got a refurb dell latitude 5285 from ebay. its biggest benefit is it's a hybrid so you can use it like a tablet, or add on a keyboard and use it like a laptop. makes it nice for space saving, and whatnot.

Spend some extra money and get any of the Lenovo ThinkPads; probably the biggest following of laptops out there besides the fancy Apple MacBooks. The ThinkPad line are laptops that you can still modify and update/upgrade hardware without worrying about soldered on RAM and locked mobos.

I have one for work but have one for personal use. I'vegotten a lot of life out if it and they're super sturdy. You can find a ton of eBay from business inventory clearance or users looking to get a bigger ThinkPad so their old ones are up for grabs.

There is a subredit on ThinkPads if you're interested. Tons of geeky info in there, but if you're shelling money out for a Windows laptop, at least get one that's going to be future proof from the beginning.

I went ahead and got a surface 7 pro because I got a great deal on it just for tune flashing. You can get the surface go or something for cheap and it will probably be easier to travel with due to size and have better hardware than an old laptop from ebay or FBMP
