    2018 Audi s6 prestige

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just bought a Audi s6 2018 prestige. I didn’t realize the car did not have the sport package till after I bought it and I don’t have the sport differential so I’m stuck with. Pretty much all the forms swear by the SD. I’m new to the the s line I had a a4 my whole life. So im loving the v8 and 4.0 t. Any recommendations or mods you guys recommend I do to make the car handle like it has a SD or better.

I'm new to the S6, and like you did not get the sport diff.

I have had two S4's with it.

If you plan to drive it like the A4/S4 you'll miss it; if you need to drive it like a sports car.

I personally have found that I'm content not having the sport diff. I feel I'm driving more of a luxury limousine now and don't take turns like a banshee.

That being said, I also had mine for 2 days before I put Stage 1 APR + TCU - worth it.

I don’t really care to much about taking turns at 100 mph I really got the car for the v8 and 4.0 it would have been nice to have the sd because The understeer on these cars aren’t the best but yea I’m looking at getting the stage 1 APR at some point. What’s a tcu Is it a add on to the arp ?

Software for the transmission. Most folk recommend upgrading the transmission software when increasing engine power, especially for the dual clutch transmission. Several vendors sell TCU tune for the S6, including APR as Freeze451 wrote.

Yup, I see where you are coming from. I guess I never really experience the sport differential kick in while driving my S4's until I was cranking turns (primarily 30mph-40mph).

Like Alabama stated, a transmission tune - helps with shifting a lot, and creates the ability to change from modes: 91/93/100 octanes. There are a lot of benefits aside from what I typed, so I would recommend it on my limited experience.

Right now, in stage 1 this thing feels like a sleeping rocket engine.

Out the door, Stage 1 APR + APR TCU was $1,400.00.

I think the tunes were $1,200 or so, and then a labor charge.

did you buy your car knowing it didn’t have the sport package? I also didn’t think it was a big deal until I started looking at the forms and everyone is like “i would never buy a s6/s4 without the sport package and SD” then other people say it’s not really needed unless your tracking the car Which I don’t do yea I like sporty driving but I also don’t really take turns fast anyway. in your opinion do you think it matters that much, I mean I had the a4 with the sport package and I don’t really notice to much of a difference when daily driving the s6.

OP, instead of worrying about what other think about the Sport Differential, why don't you live with your new S6 a while and make up your own mind about its absence. If it is understeer you're trying to reduce or eliminate, there are aftermarket sway bars that will tighten things up for you.

Yea I’m putting in sway bars and lowering links hopefully that will help with the understeer. I personally don’t see much of a difference but I’m just asking to be informed. I’ve never owed a car always leased so this is all new to me and I’m researching and asking people on this forum so I can figure out what I can do to my car to make it a beast

you can go down the rabbit hole fast with suspension

search the forums a bit for your key words, like sway bars, suspension, and so forth.

Ask away, but know most of this has been covered

If your plan is to create a beast, then for ECU tune you should probably look at DynoSpectrum DS1. It's expensive up front but is very flexible as the owner adds various upgrades. DynoSpectrum does not sell a TCU tune however; you'll need to get that elsewhere.

i had the sport diff on my s4, don't on my s6, and honestly don't care.. The folks screaming get it, are likely just happy they have another option code. and like mentioned above, when it shits the bed, your wallet won't be happy..

Yea from what I’m getting of everyone’s response is this sport differential is really not that big of deal and it’s a lot of money to fix if it shits the bed. I’m just tryna have a car that’s fast and handles well and so I’m just asking your guys opinions on good mods for the s6 I have. I’m new to all of this a lot of the stuff everyone’s saying I have no idea about until now lol

Unless you hit corners hard you'll never even notice the sport diff. But if you do hit a corner hard with sport diff, you'll notice it.

I had an issue with a corner in my first S4 and needed the SD. It was my first S4 so I didn't realize that it was so front heavy, I was surprised. the next S4 had the SD and was happy because it rounded the corner as if it was on rails. If you are going to drive aggressive SD is a great assist. I think ether way you look at it is fine and I don't abuse the ride but it's nice to know that it's there to help. That being said I like it when you're "working it" and it does kick in it helps.

    THIS

034 or Eurocode Swaybars will improve handling. The car is still big and heavy and the way the engine is mounted is inherently wrong for handling, but swaybars with end links will help for sure.

Yea so far I’m getting rear sway bars and lowering links we’ll see how that works. What are end links are they part of the sway bars?

I had the sd in my a4 I noticed it but I never made it work much. I never really took corners aggressive I’m more of a straight line to listen to turbos and engine kinda guy but i like the occasional spirited drive

Endlinks are what connects the swaybar to the wheels. They are not mandatory, but upgrading them will definitely help as the stock bushings are just flimsy rubber pieces.

this is a little more overkill for a daily/average user unless you are going full derp with preload and adjusting every ounce of your suspension. You can absolutely get away with the hard links from 034/Eurocode/ECS
