2015 A7 Prestige SuperCharged - Need Life Expectancy Advice

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My 2015 Audi Prestige Supercharge now has 111K Miles.

I want to know the current condition of my vehicle and how many miles it has before giving serious troubles. Currently it drives great with no codes.

I took it to the shop and here is what they quote me, although they said theses are pretty normal wear and tear for a car with 111K Miles.

    Report:

    - left and right Engine mounts needs replacement

-Transmission mount is leaking hydra fluid

-Control Arm Bushings broken, upper bushings need to be replaced

-Coolant is slightly leaking from water pump

-Rear Shock Absorbers have leaked hydra fluid and needs to replaced along with rear shock mounts

-All Tires need to be replaced, some are repaired with putty and putty job can not be further repaired.

Dollar wise, I think you are already having serious troubles! That is a lot of stuff to be doing at once and it appears most are past "worn out" into full on "failed". I would agree that nothing seems out of the ordinary with what needs attention though.

You can make almost anything "last forever" whatever that means....all depends on how much time and money you are willing to spend. You can fix all of those issues, and buy more time & miles....then your trans could take a dump or your rod can knock.....ANYTHING is possible. You are asking people to predict the future, which is impossible....your guess is as good as any bodies. People want a "new phone" every year, but expect cars to "last forever"....everything has a "service life". It is a gamble either way...if engine still runs well, fix everything, service the trans and buy yourself more time....

I love Audis. But I tell anyone who'll listen, don't buy one if you can't work on them yourself. Unless you plan to sell/trade it just before the warranty expires.

If you want 200K+ trouble free miles, go buy a Lexus.

If yours still drives great, pick the items off that list one or two at a time, starting with the water pump.

Oh, and change your add in the Facebook C7A6 group.

Especially the line that says, "Selling to buy a Tesla. Runs Great no issues."

You might want to mention the issues you've outlined here. There's a fair amount of crossover and some people might not think you're being completely honest.

All of those are common issues (I have done motor mounts, tires, and I have my front control arms failing rn), except for the trans mount (I have never heard of that failing on one of these cars, but I am not entirely surprised). That being said, usually they don't all fail at the same time. It seems like there was some maintenance neglected with this car. Best of luck with it.

All I can add is replacing the water pump, pcv, and thermostat ran me about $1800 in parts and labor. I was told the motor mounts would be even more. I would be interested what the total quote was from the shop that inspected it gave you to fix everything.

Everything you have shown can be fixed and will not draw down the life expectancy of the car. At 111K its still a younger pup. My 2012 is about 217,500 miles on it. . . . mostly trouble free.

I did have to replace the timing chains at around 204K and then fix a busted cat converter but otherwise fairly trouble free for even the previous owner.

With the items you have shown it will certainly dig into your asking price because labor isn't cheap on these things. I would venture to say that the tire repairs if done right are not that big of a deal as long as they are not leaking air and have reasonable tread remaining. Looks like a plug was used in the 1 tire you show which is a common repair. More than likely its a plug patch; the plug went through the hole to help seal and on the back side is a patch covering the area from the inside. Common repair, not a big deal.
