MMI Firmware Updating and Maps Updates (Final Consensus)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello!

There has been much talk about this topic and I wanted to see if there was a consensus in the community regarding this topic.

    1. What is the latest version of firmware for the MMI for 8V(1) and 8V(2) cars? The head unit version numbers vary quite a bit so please keep that in mind. Does anyone have an arbitrary list of "updates" that occurred from old to new versions? Such as subwoofer controls added, fluid hand motions, voice activation tweaks, etc...?

    2. What is the latest version of maps available for your respective year, platform, and region?

    3. What is the community's opinion of services such as Carsie/eBay/Audi-Sport GDrive Archive to be used in order to update the MMI firmware and built-in navigation maps archive?

    Thanks!

wow. looks like that's all the goodies.. thanks... Now the trick is figuring out which firmware/maps/etc. work on my 2008 & 2015
2008 R8 V8 Manual: Uni 93 ECU tune * Avior Exhaust * Spacers * R8 Puddle lights * Custom mats. All 12 of my other VAG cars are gone :(

I have an S3 from 2014 and retrofitted the MIB2 high Harman unit and the newest FW is MHI2_ER_AU37x_P5089 (its EU Version).

    Wow.

    Thank you so much!

Really does amaze me how awesome these forums are. Here I was ready to pay God knows how much to get my crap updated.

    A couple questions man:

    1. Do the ER regions drastically differ from the US regions? I am in the US so it only makes sense to update the US version. Is there any advantage updating the ER version vs the US one?

    2. What does the P4219 version number mean vs the MU version number?

My current version is: MHI2_US_AU37x_P3254 MU software : 0694

There is no MU Update for the same P3254, so am I out of luck?

    3. Understanding the maps nomenclature is a bit difficult. My current database version is V03959802DL 0069 NAR 2019

It looks like the current database is pretty empty for my MHI2 (2017 Audi S3). Should we ask someone from the community if they can upload their most recent maps database or is my 2019 the version the highest one Audi decided to support?

    4. Things like media and telephone drivers are updated as part of the full firmware updates, correct?

This information has been super helpful and will help many folks to come.

    Thank you sir!

I noticed there is information on ODIS in the link.

I am looking to paramaterize a driver control module on my car. I do not have VCP or ODIS. Is there any way for me to parameterize it without connection to VAG servers?

I keep getting the B200500 error code which is my fault for buying a module new from Audi...

The maindifference is the language set, between US an EU Fw.The MU number changes after the update. The update includes telephone drivers. If you want i can send you a invitation link to a Telegram Group, where you can get answeres for updates, retrofits and troubleshooting.

I think you can do it only with ODIS-E and SVM Coding, that means you need a Geko PW,which costs you about 25 $ for one hour (SVM Coding take about 10min,so you can do other things also within that hour).

    Thanks man!

I read up that apparently I can not update my current MU version 0694 to the latest : 1363 for the AU37x model.

    Is this true?

I am still looking for an active maps database which I believe I saw on Audiworld btw.
