hello guys, looking to get some insight regarding a possible future purchase of an '17-'18 S8, this would be replacing my '20 RS3. I've noticed these dont come around too often on the normal auto sale sites.

What, if any, issues should i look for when shopping for one of these? Do these come with any type of android auto support be it wirless or wired?

I am sure others will chime in, but service history is one point, have the turbos inspected, the oil screen, motor mounts and make sure to find out if it is tuned or flagged by Audi.

I had an RS7 Performance for two years, (what a beast!!!) and loved every minute behind the wheel.

I just committed to purchase a 2016 A8 because I could not locate an S8 or A8 Sport worth buying. I have been searching for the past 6 months...
Family comes First!.... Nice cars a close second.

For topless Summer fun... 2013 Volcano Red S5 Cabriolet Prestige, Black Optics Grill, Rear Valance, Tint, IE Down Pipes... SOLD!

Semi-Daily Driver: 2016 A8L, Glacier White... Where to begin with the mods??? SOLD!

thanks for the input. So far i've seen 2-3 S8s that i would consider, one of which being a 2018, i wouldnt want to get anything older than 2017.

how do you feel about the difference in the MMI between the 2020 and 2017? honestly thats my only concern with possibly being too outdated. So far the biggest difference i've notice is the lack of android auto support with the s8, do the 2018 S8 have it?

There are aftermarket solutions for android auto/carplay for about $250.

I have it and it works amazing well. Integrates with factory controls, allows you to keep the original mmi etc.

It definitely updates the interior. It's actually better than what I had in my 17 s8 as it supports wireless android auto too.

Could you please provide some links to some of these aftermarket solutions. Is RSNav one of them? And do these solution involve the replacement of the factory display?

This is the one lots of people use. No, you do not replace the factory display. Once installed you change between the mmi interface and the android auto interface by simply holding down the NAV button. Everything works as oem.

This coupon code should work also A8S8GUS

ok, looks simple enough. I've been reading through this forum, along with information online regarding this vehicle. If i understand this correctly are all '17-'18 S8's the Plust trim? in other words all S8 for the '17 and '18 MY, by default, are S8 Plus

Jumping on this thread…OP did you ever find an S8 and move from the RS3? I have a B9 S4 and am also considering going to a 17-18 S8 Plus. I know there are some pros and cons. Just feel like I’ll never get another opportunity to own a V8 the way things are going. Is the maintenance a considerable amount more than your average Audi to get into the 4.0 TT? Give me some reviews from current owners of a D4. Bad decision, good decision. Love the B9 but a super limo sounds fun too.

Came from a Stage 2 B8 S4 to a stage 2 D4 S8 and absolutely love it and feel I made the right decision in doing so. S8 drives much smaller than it actually is and it feels more planted than the S4. Ample room inside and with 720 bhp and 1090 Nm torque, makes my old S4 seem so slow in comparison. Acceleration is brutal in all drive modes in all gears and the speed just builds in no time. 0-60mph in 2.7-3 seconds, 0-100mph under 6.5 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.7-11 seconds.
Maintenance costs seem on par with my S4 (using an independent Audi garage). Biggest expense being changing the PCV, pesky oil filter screen and check valve. I budgeted this in mind before my purchase and it was the 1st thing I done. Other expenses will be modifications...you will do this at some point, trust me.
Running costs are the biggest difference. I average 15-20 mpg in the S8, whilst in the S4 it was 25-30 mpg.
The grunt from the V8 engine and milltek non-resonated exhaust are worth it alone.
I deffo made the correct choice with my upgrade and am sure you will have no regrets.
    Hope that helps a little.

Are the pct, oil screen and check valve issues fixed in the later model years? Or it’s an across the board issue? I found a 2015 with low miles and service history that is tempting me.
