    Ultra Blue Metallic thoughts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I've found myself scrutinizing my build a little more now that i have an allocation and the prospect of a new RS6 are getting more real. I chose Ultra Blue as a color and the online photos I've been able to find ( S5s mostly) look stunning. However, in person the colors can read differently, so I'm curious if Ultra looks super bright or darker in person. Reasoning being, if it's fairly dark I can get away with red calipers on black optic wheels without too much clashing. However if its very bright I may opt for the black steel calipers as I don't want the red and blue clashing too much. I know it's all in the eye of the beholder but I'm curious what your experience with Ultra blue in person is like. I've seen plenty of Navarra in person, but Ultra is new for this year. Appreciate any feedback!

I went through this before I ordered my RS7. Granted colors are subjective but….I waited until Dealer had an actual Ultra blue car in stock. Very bright blue, and uniform in color under Florida sunlight. Personally too monochromatic for me, prefer Sepang Blue (purple tones) or Ara Blue (see nemesis’s posts here, lovely RS6). You need to see colors in person as there are too many tricks with photography to make an informed decision.

I went with Porsche’s Sapphire Blue Metalic for the same price as other Audi exclusive colors.

You might want to check if blue calipers are available in the US - they don't seem to be on the US configurator, but they are in Canada:

I would assume that the caliper paint would also be Ultra Blue, which might look good if you end up liking the color overall. Of course, if it is a different color blue then it would probably look terrible :)

Also, I am pretty sure that the blue calipers used to be available with or without the ceramic brakes, but now it seems to show only for ceramic.

The Nemesis Ara Blue RS6 is gorgeous , noticed it has grey ceramics, which while tempting I opted against. RS6 brake options include standard black steelor red for $500 upcharge, or red vs gray if you opt for ceramics....ultra blue brakes would be cool, not an option as far as I can tell

Ultra blue here with red ceramics. The blue definitely pops in sunlight (mine is PPFd and ceramic coated) but works with the red calipers imo.

Good to know, thanks for the feedback. I will try to see an Ultra in person, but with my dealer being a little further out and having limited inventory it might be tough.will probably opt for black brakes if Ultra is that bright in person. Thanks for the feedback. What color calipers did you go with on your Sapphire Blue?

Those Ultra Blue pics look super and darker in appearance than how I remember it being in real life. From the pictures the ultra blue looks darker than the ara blue in nemesis’s posts.

Blues are hard to nail down via pictures. Here is the color I went with, as you can see from owner submitted pictures, there are a lot of variances depending on lighting condition/filters/camera quality.

I went with gray calipers, may have them powder coated in the Porsche’s yellow they use for ceramics….

Thank you very much! You are correct - CETE module in "show mode". Wheels are Vossen HF-3, satin black. One of the other pics shows stock wheels powder coated black for winter set up.

I also have UB with red ceramics and CO

Can confirm that the photos will show the more lighter of the two hues more often. It definitely looks different in person.

The Local Audi dealer had an Ultra Blue SQ5 on the lot this weekend. I have a Ultra Blue RS6 inboard, theoretically :) so went to check it out. color looks great in person. I took some pictures to show my wife, most of the pics looked a lot darker. I guess its one of those colors that don't photograph well.....

links don't seem to work, did you paint the brakes or source the OEM blue calipers the US RS6 doesn't get for some silly reason?

i had never seen ultra blue in person- i had a sepang individual order in for an rs eton GT that never got confirmed so I like the blues.. went to the dealer, they had a dupe order of an rs6 avant ultra blue w black optic and I bought it on the spot. reads very different depending on the lighting and cloud cover.

Here is my fresh off the boat '23 in Ultra Blue. Black optics, red calipers (steel brakes). It's amazing how the color changes indoors in different lighting conditions (ignore those dumb looking guys in the background )

She's in getting PPF right now, I'll get better outdoor pictures when the Western WA weather improves. IMG_6063.jpgIMG_8176.jpg

I started this thread two years ago after a years of preferring muted colors, culminating in the legendary Nardo on my previous RS5. Looking back, I couldn't be happier with Ultra Blue, pulled the trigger on full expel stealth over it, and it has a gorgeous -yet-subtle satin blue color that still retains the original flake in the paint under sunlight. Just under the radar enough, but have definitely had plenty of comments on it. I still look back to drink it in every time i park at work.

    Looks awesome!

I just bought your twin… 2023 Ultra Blue RS6 with the exact same options. I had the dealer paint the wheels gloss black and I love it! I’ll try and get some good pics after getting tint.

I love Nardo but had it on my RS5 for four years and wanted something different. Very happy with Ultra blue!

My debate with my Ultra Blue order was between the aluminum vs carbon optics. The aluminum gives it a wonderful classic look and I didn't want to just get caught up in the black optic trend that seems to be popular right now.

However, dylanj82's pics give me comfort that the carbon spec was the right choice. It's currently on a boat crossing the Atlantic. Can't wait!

Worth every painful day of wait!

Yeah I had a tough choice between the black and carbon optics. I had the opportunity to see an Ultra Blue/Carbon car after it's delivery and before ordering mine...it's very nice...but I really liked the contrast in the gloss black and Ultra Blue. Hey, that's why they have options...personal preference!

Agree with everyone its one of those colors you have to see in person. Its an amazing color no questions about it! For example, my wife dislikes the look the rs6 but loves the color and excepts the car because of it lol. Just finished get our BF forged wheels powered coated, its actually how I envisioned it prior purchasing since I personally hate the stock rims.

My just arrived 23 Ultra Blue RS7... reminds me of my 2004 S4 in Nogaro Blue (with the blue alcantara!) when out of direct sunlight or closer to dusk but that shade all the time.
