Hi all, I know there was some talk about shipping in the waiting thread, but I thought I'd get a separate one here. Does anyone have some good recommendations for enclosed shipping? Reliable and Horseless Carriage seem to be some of the big ones. I know a couple of you guys mentioned Go Buggy - it seems they are a broker and you don't get to pick who does your shipment? Though they do seem to have great reviews so far... Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

Stay far, far away from brokers. They basically list your job on a universal board and contract it to the cheapest bidder. It's possible that you could get someone good, but going in you basically have no idea who you will be ultimately be dealing with (and who will be handling you car).

I've used McCollister's numerous times now (5+) over the past few years and been very happy with them.

Try Plycar. That's who shipped mine from the port to the dealer.

+1 on STAY AWAY FROM BROKERS.... Advice, pay a little more and get better service. Depending on where you are shipping from and too, I have a few good private carriers that will only move your car.

I've used Reliable and they offer white glove service but you pay for it. I've not used Intercity but they are the transporter that Wayne Carini uses to ship cars on his Chasing Classic Cars tv show. Make sure whomever you use carries the right insurance. I also would NOT use a broker to arrange.

I have used Intercity Lines, Reliable Carriers, Fisher Auto and RunBuggy. The last two are brokers, but not your typical brokers. RunBuggy while a broker, does curate their list of carriers. I got to know their CEO and COO, they are trying to bring auto shipping to the 21st century. They have built a really cool platform and provides a lot of advantages to all parties. Here is my take on the folks I have used:

Intercity Lines - fantastic service, great communication, typically (in my experience) very slow, the last few times I booked them they were 6-8 weeks out on pickup, pay a deposit up front, balance on delivery

Reliable Carriers - great service, decent communication, typically (in my experience) very slow, the last few times I booked them they were 4-6 weeks out on pickup, pay everything upfront at time of booking

Fisher Auto - a broker (take it for what it is), very good carriers (from my experience), very fast typically pick up in 1-3 days from order (and delivery 2-3 days from pickup), deposit upfront, balance on delivery

RunBuggy - fantastic service (they curate their carriers), carrier was fantastic that delivered my car (enclosed transport with two cars in it), GPS tracking the whole trip, you have the ability to communicate directly with the driver, various level of service can be chosen (all the way up to complete white glove), they take pictures of the car at pickup and delivery (no one I know of others this service), very fast pick up in 1-3 days from order (and delivery 2-3 days from pickup), no deposit and payment is only made at delivery (to me this speaks volumes on the business model), (if matters to you) they are backend service for the Bring A Trailer delivery service, the white glove service they other BaT is comprehensive (ensuring payment, title transfer, condition of car before/after delivery, etc)

BTW, never contact Montway, they will call you incessantly...

A question for dent2003, what are you shipping? Is it a collector car or a new RS6-7? If the latter, why not make a road trip out of it?

New RS6. Problem is two fold. First is it's 800 miles across states with snow and mountain passes, not to mention rocks. Summer tires and cold temps don't mix. Second I want to get the ppf, etc on before I drive it.... if it was in the summer I probably would...

Ensure that the company you choose provides comprehensive insurance coverage and has positive reviews for handling claims, should anything go wrong. You might also want to check out https://www.a1autotransport.com/enclosed/ for another option. They offer enclosed transport services with detailed attention to handling and safety, which could give you another reliable choice.
