    B8/B8.5 Exhaust

Hey everyone. Just wanted to get some recommendations on exhaust for the 2016 Audi A4 Quattro. I have a b8.5 S-Line and im having some trouble making a choice. I want to have the deep, clean sound with out the fart noise if possible. Im sure there’s possibly a forum for this but Im having no luck fishing around for it.

I saw the Esc Tuning kit which seems solid and ideal since I want to open/close the valves but Im open to other suggestions.

    Check this thread: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...nd-clip-thread!

That said after literally reading every single page on that thread, I opted for the AWE Touring. I personally think it sounds the best with just a HFC.

But then I threw on my IE downpipe it sounded fucking ridiculous. Ended up welding a 3" Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator and it sounds perfect.

I'm also not sure how true this is, but it seemed like most automatics all had the fart sound.

Happy to send you a clip of my 2012 A4 Avant exhaust. We somewhat stumbled into a custom build. A year plus ago, we installed an ECS tuning mid-pipe to remove some of the resonators/sound deadening. Then had a forum member we bought some taillights from send us a lower DP/midpipe for free. That turned into buying a USP motorsports 3" DP with high-flow cat.

All of that mashed together equaled too many clamps and one eventually failed. We then did what we should have done to start, took it to an exhaust shop and they fixed all our fitment issues, installed some new hangers, put in a 5x8 central muffler, cut off the OEM mufflers in the back, and attached APR tips my son had picked up for the car.

The sound of that was brutal at 1,500 to 2,300 rpm...even my son agreed it was too loud...so we went back and added rear Magnaflow mufflers to get more sound over the stock mufflers.

We're letting it break in now, but I think we'll stick with this setup. Much better than stock.

The fart is a tuning issue, not an exhaust issue. Only way to avoid it is shifting at low rpms or having a really quiet exhaust. Personally, i have a stock cat going to a vibrant ultra quiet to a flowmaster super 10. It is very deep and rumbly, and not too loud. I live in a dense neighborhood and get home from work after midnight. No complaints from neighbors.

Is it possible you can toss up a video or a clip on what yours sounds like?

Yeah if you can send a clip or a video Id like to see. Trying to find proper examples is kind of hard since most vids that come up are really not of this car

Check out Bruce Custom Motors set up that’s what I’m going with on Monday. Except for these pair of Apexi N1’s I have left over from my JDM days as ending mufflers that’s the set up I’m going with. If it sound moderately similar to his setup I will be fine. He’s supposedly running 450+ on a stock motor and it sounds sick af.

BCM is a joke, there’s no way he is hitting even 450 crank on a KO4, he’s using an app to come up with that HP number, he won’t dyno, won’t dragy, won’t go to the track.

Unfortunately he has a bunch of uninformed followers.

That is not how to you install a O2 sensor: https://youtu.be/fKW3W9MZ7ks?t=80 And that catch can with an air filter on it....HAHA. Anything this person says is suspect and should be used for entertainment value only.

How about a muffler delete with a HFC? Already installed a HFC and it sounds a little healthier, but still too quiet. Not looking to be annoyingly loud, just more of a bark.

I really like my Integrated Engineering HFC/DP with Milltek CBE. I've gotten comments from an entire range of people about how good it sounds - a buddy who into German cars, his 9 year old kid who is into muscle cars, and their 65 year old mother who really isn't into cars.

It's subtly deep without sounding cheap in any way. I'd absolutely buy the same setup again.

There you go. Since my last comment I am now Stage 2 with a CTS Cat.

I will say: video doesn't do this system justice. There is a lot depth and bass that is lost to the iPhone mic.

Very interested in this setup. Do you happen to have a soundclip/video of your exhaust?

I'm about to pull the trigger on the IE HFC/DP, (woohoo spring sale!) but not sure how I'll like the exhaust note after just that. That being said, I also don't want to go super loud.

Just make sure whatever exhaust you get, it has a resonator on it. Then it won't be so loud. I have AWE and it didn't come with one. It was too loud so I threw on an ultra quiet resonator and now it sounds perfect.

As for how it will sound with just the DP and stock cat back, you can check out ECS video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBIgi5ytyZI basically the same shit.

So did you end up cutting the IE DP and running the ultra quiet resonator where the stock front res would have been or did you add that res in the AWE system?

I just pulled the trigger on the IE HFC/DP to see how I like the sound... Just looking for something with a bit more growl for now.

I got my welded towards the rear. Where the midpipe connects to the catback. Don't think it matters where you install the resonator. Could be wrong.

If you're just looking for a slight bump in sound, I would keep the cat-back stock. It will sound exactly like the ECS video as they're basically identical.
