How do I remove this PCV breather hose from valve cover(s)?

It looks like this. Tried squeezing the sides, no luck. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

That's the funny part about US regulations that require locking mechanisms on emissions related plumbing that prevent reversing the orientation of the plumbing or any possibility of it coming loose. From the workshop manual:

    Rest-of-world vehicles:
    – Disconnect crankcase breather hose -arrow- by pressing release tabs.
    – Remove bolts in the sequence -12 ... 1- and remove cylinder head cover.

    USA models:

Caution- Risk of violating emission legislation applying to USA models.
♦ Do NOT open hose connection -arrow-.

    – Remove bolts in the sequence -12 ... 1- and move cylinder head cover clear to one side with crankcase breather hose -arrow- still connected.
RoW gets line set 06E 103 217 AC while US gets line set 06E 103 217 AD (B8.0) or AF (B8.5). Curious that AD had spring clips like AC, but AF goes with that force fit config for whatever reason.

I imagine if you break it, just replace it with a AC set that is made to come off naturally.

Oh, Audi even said it directly, in the SSP for the EA837 evo (ie, CRE engine, whose PCV modifications were back ported to the first gen supercharged 3.0T as the CTU engine):

The vent pipe has a fixed, i.e. non-detachable, connection to the cylinder head cover in order to meet the requirements of the CARB (California Air Resource Board).

^ this is exactly what I did. Works perfectly. In order to release, virtually the entire circumference of the connection needs to be pushed outward at the same time to make it over the raised edge of the connection on the valve cover. Used a snip tool instead of a rotary to cut the clamp. Slide the clamp under the hose between the connection and the hose and it will wiggle out easily.
