    Tire Warranty Claim Experiences

Was looking to see people's experiences with filing warranty claims with Continental. have a set of DSW06 on my B8.5 and I'm already at 4/32nds with only 22k miles on them. I called Continental and they said my tire dealer can work with me on the claim so I call them and they tell me that they dont work with Continental just Goodyear. I never filed a claim before so dont know what the process should be like

You got a lot further than I did on DWS06. I bought a set at the dealership since I wanted to try them and they had them while my usual shop didn't. When they were at the wear bars after only maybe 18k, all I had to pay for was the mount/balance to install a new set. But I was back at the dealership that sold the original set, was selling the replacement set, and did all the labor. I didn't have to do anything but shell out another $70 or so and sit around a few hours.

But you need to be at the wear bars, 2/32nd, iirc. That's negligently dangerous tread level, but that's what an industry that doesn't care about safety gets away with when they all collude the same agenda. If the shop isn't willing to assist with the situation, you need to find a different shop that's supportive of Continental ownership. Otherwise, you're going to replace these tires and end up getting dicked by the paper work. Call Continental back and tell them the shop says they don't work with Continental tread wear claims, what do they advise.

I definitely baby them. Just disappointing. Yea, I’ll give them a ring back and let them know the dealer they show on their website that I bought from doesn’t “support” them. If I can get a almost free set like you, I’d stick with them rather than swapping over to the AS3 or 4s

I ran a much harder set of tires down to the wear bars in 25K just daily driving the car. Were you expecting 40 or 50K out of them?

per Continental: Because of this, Continental back all available sizes of the Extreme Contact DWS06 with a 50,000-mile limited warranty. But if you want the most thorough coverage for your new set of Continental DWS 06 tires, consider the supplementary coverage of our Certificates. All Continental passenger and light truck tires are eligible for the Limited Warranty for a maximum of up to 72 months from the date of purchase. The Limited Warranty allows for free replacement within the first 12 months.

so yes, OP was probably expecting more mileage. probably not going to get much out of Continental other than maybe a discount on a new set of tires, unless you're within that 12 month period.

Yup, maybe a small discount if they honor the claim. Get those rotation receipts out. I've never tried to warranty a set of tires for lasting less miles than advertised, I'm curious to see what Continental does.

^This. If you are outside of the original 12 months, the best you are going to do is receive a discount on another set of Contis. I have treadwear warrantied two different manufacturers -- Michelin and a Korean brand I do not recall. If you purchase from TireRack, you have to ship the old tires back to them. I have found your best bet is to try to purchase from a local, reputable tire retailer that carries the brand and will match TireRack prices.

Separately, when you have them installed, know the recommended torque specs (?? 90 ft. lbs. ??), tell them you do not want them torqued over that amount, and tell them you do not want them to use an impact wrench. Ask them to ground it and use a torque wrench. I have had too many problems with overtorqued lugs.
