Mobil 1 5w-40 European Car Formula

I've done some searching and only found a thread about the 0w-40..... I was wondering if anyone has used the 5w-40 European car formula from Mobil 1. Any experiences with this oil? I have used it before for topping off between oil changes but never used it for a full oil change so wanted to get some feedback.

    Thanks!

Not sure that formulation is still available. There may still be some in stores. I believe it was superseded by Mobil 1 0w40 FS European Car Formula. That is what I run. It is VW 00 502/505 and VW 00 503.1 certified. The FS prefix is important. This oil is much different than the previous 5w40 European Formula. Shear/wear protection is greatly improved.

The 0w40 FS European formula is the factory recommended oil for our Porsche, and the wife goes 10k between changes on it.

VW 502/505 approved. It'll be just fine as long as you do your oil changes on time.

The Mobil 1 5W-40 was made to compete against Castrol's 5W-40. Really nothing more to it than that.

I use 0-40 mobile1 as well and at 125k miles, blackstone said ive got some of the best oil samples around for my chassis/ year. Only negative comment was that they said the oil tends to break down quicker compared to others, but as long as I kept with the 5k oil change all is good.

Dont forget walmart has a special twice a year (fall/spring) that you get 5qts for around $12 after rebate. Ive been stacking that for years.
