    Leasing a new 2022 RS5 sportback VS buying a 7000 mile 2020 RS3 ? Help me decide !

    Hi guys,

Posted this on the RS3 forum but now curious to hear from RS5 owners as well !

I have the chance to buy an extremely low mileage 2020 RS3 ; as you know there was no 2021 in NA and 2022 has been cancelled for Canada

I had a 2018 RS 3 which was totaled (best car ever)

I was waiting for a 2022 RS3 but that's not happening anymore in Canada

Price per month for both vehicules is basically the same as I would be leasing the RS5 vs buying the RS3

I have a S5 sportback right now which is OK but doesn't thrill me like my RS3 did; hate the thransmission mapping / throttle lag

Will I get the thrill back with the RS5 or should I jump at the opportunity of getting another RS3 ?

    Thanks for helping me !!!

I would say if you felt like your 2018 RS3 was your best car ever, and you're not super thrilled with your S5 Sportback just get the 2020 RS3. The RS5 is awesome and a good jump over the S5, but it will never be nimble or a small package/pocket rocket, if that's what makes you happy.

Yeah, if you think your previous RS3 was your best car ever then get another one. No sense in trying to convince yourself otherwise.

Here is my 2 cents, My son has a 2020 RS3 and i just picked up a 2021 RS5 coupe in June, both were bought new. for me, I am 57 yrs old, prefer the RS5 as it is a bit more mature for me and the RS3 is more raw, my son is 26
I also feel a bit cramped in the RS3 as i am 6 foot 215 pounds. Both are a blast to drive no doubt, however for me i prefer the RS5.

    good luck with the choice!

Only live once. Don’t buy the same car twice unless you buy one for your kids.

RS3 if you plan to do power mods and want a more driver focus car. RS5 if you value the interior and want an "ready out of the box". However, if you dont like the S5, I can't imagine you liking the RS5.

RS3 is also a more desired car in todays market and will likely hold more value so keep that in mind.

I considered the RS3 just like you. IF I went with the RS3, it would only make sense in my eyes to mod since thats where the platform shines. I ultimately decided to go with the RS5 for the more mature out of the box ready car.

For me I wanted the RS5 sportback and never considered the RS3 as its too small for me. Given your situation and knowing how much you enjoyed the RS3 you had, that might make the best sense.
