So, we've been going through an awful cold snap for a week or so (-30 C, or like -22 F) and of course the Allroad has been acting up.
Went for a drive, everything as normal for a while, but then the air suspension warning light popped on the dash. Didn't notice much else until I got home.
It looks like the front bags are fully inflated and the rear are near fully deflated, tilting the front of the car way upwards.
I pulled it into the heated garage and left it to warm up and unfreeze overnight. The next day it was still tilted up. I started it and pressed the button to lower to level 1 (indicator was at 2) and the whole thing lowered while keeping that same front-up back-down angle! Then it went back up when I pressed level 2. But it's not self leveling and the front looks abnormally high at this angle.
Edit: I should say that the rear bags don't appear to be losing air. They just don't seem to be going up.
I let it sit for another few days in the heated garage in hopes that whatever was happening was related to the weather. I took it out for a drive to see if it would self level back to normal. But again I got the suspension warning, as well as ABS, traction and a few other dash lights going crazy, including the battery.
My next step was to go back to the garage. I hooked up the battery charger for a while and then tried to start the car again and raise/lower but no luck now. It sort of sounds like the compressor is running a little louder than usual but nothing is happening either front or back.
So that's where I'm at now. I was hoping someone here had some expertise to share or advice to offer. I'm at the point where I'm considering just pulling the battery out and parking it at the edge of the driveway until spring. I don't have much room in the garage to work on it at the moment.
But if there's something relatively simple to try, I'm game.
I'm not sure if the sensors, compressor, rear bags, or all of the above are the issue. I replaced the front air bags this past spring without any issues. They were operating perfectly all year.
Any help is appreciated!
