What are your favorite worthwhile OBDEleven mods?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
finally got mine, and, while paranoid I might screw something up, curious if these mods are "worth it"?

Lowering the air suspension .. what's a safe reduction without impacting performance/reliability/quattro?
    Enabling VIM
    Louder beep on lock
Shorterning default Adaptive Cruise distance .. I'm always shortening it manually
Change the time before the heated seats auto-change from level 3 to level 2 .. I never noticed my seats change after heating up @ 3
Enable Remote Operation Windows and Sunroof / Drivers Memory Seat .. would love to drop windows and open sunroof from remote on hot days
    Close trunk remotely
Curb lighting (not sure ho helpful this would be)
Enabling the Daytime Running Lights on/off setting in the MMI
Lap timer / Oil temperature / Boost gauge / Shift light
Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
Enable TPMS .. I miss my TPMS. I assume I have to add TPMS sensors to every wheel and then can sync those sensors to this feature???
Add sensitivity menu for Active Lane Assist .. assuming this will help keep the car centered without my intervention

I found a pretty good single source for vagcom, but I haven't found a good single reference for OBDeleven use. Anyone know of one?

That's a great list to start with. I did many of those using the OBDEleven of my RS7. My favorites were the gear display, remote trunk, daytime running lights staying on and power windows from remote.

For me the absolute must is the reverse start/stop default. I hate the automatic start/stop feature with a passion and reversing it (default off when you turn the car on) was the best coding so far.

I’d say second is tied between enabling the DRLs to also have the tail light DRLs on with the headlight DRLs and the beep on both lock and unlock.

I’ve enabled most of the rest of your list as well like the trunk closing from the button on the drivers door, but I rarely ever use that feature since it’s just easy to hit the button on the trunk when you’re there. It is nice to have though.

If you want TPMS for each tire with pressure readings, it is way more involved than simply an OBD11 click. You will need the 4 wheel sensors as you stated, but you will also need the control unit, cable harness, and 4 transmitters..... And of course install and code all that stuff... And about $1000

You could go with an aftermarket system for a hundred or so bucks and mount the display module inside the car. I had one for my old 996 turbo and it worked really well. Read both pressure and temp.

Now that it's finally gotten cold, I turned up the steering wheel heat up to 33. Makes a HUGE difference on a single digit morning drive.

Where are you finding working versions of these mods in OBDEleven? I would love to set my adaptive cruise to shortest distance instead of manually changing it every time but the adaptation in module 13 for "Distance Regulation Can Be Activated" doesn't work on the C7. My configuration was set to YES already, and no such setting appears in the MMI under Car Systems --> Drivers Assistance. I even changed the value to NO, rebooted MMI, changed it back to YES, rebooted MMI, and it still doesn't show up.

Also didn't see any working mods related to Active Lane Assist sensitivity, so would love to know where you found that one as well!

My favorite mod has been to add the Efficiency mode to Audi Drive Select. It's a 25% boost in MPG around the city, for those days I want a more refined driving experience.

This I need as I’m also a chitowner (out in the western burbs) and as you know it’s cold as shit lately! How does one change the settings on this using obd11? I don’t see that option in the canned “adjustments or retrofits”

The tpms in audis is passive system, it uses abs sensors to detect flat (which rotates faster due smaller diameter) and afaik doesn’t need anything else then comparible abs module. Not as aqqurate as sensor based counterpart, but fillls the legislation in eu.

AUdi uses both direct and indirect TPMS systems, depends on your car which it has. Direct uses sensors in each wheel and can show each tires pressure. Indirect uses the ABS system and tire RPMs

Does anybody use ODB11 to remove that annoying tone when the engine is on and the door opened? I know I can press error and sound stops but every time pressing buttons.

46 Comfort System, first in Adaptation, channel 98, change the value from 1 to 0.

Then, again in module 46 Comfort System, Extended Coding, in Byte 15 set bits 0 and 3.

I couldn't help myself and did the following:

    (1) needle sweep at start-up
    (2) gear display
    (3) revert auto stop/start to off when the car starts. I turn it on when I'm in stop-and-go traffic if needed. Otherwise, I hate it!

The needle sweep feature is cool......but I confess that I stopped noticing it about two days after setting it up.

Auto start stop was set to the most recent setting on my wife 2017 q. In my car. It always reset to ON every time the war was turned on. Didn’t like the.

By the way, I used Carista for that but now have VCDS, grabs to Ross Tech!

my primary motivation for getting odb11 was to turn off annoying noise when the car's door is opened and the engine is running...but after that, I just turn a bunch of stuff on and off as I go. Has anybody coded for DL led lights to be brighter then normal if so what is the steps thanks

I know you mean max using VCDS. If Glicious wants lower, then a third party suspension module might work? I think I saw an ad on AZ for a new product to compete with CETE.

I followed Audisthesia's instructions and used VCDS to lower my car. However, the maximum change mine would accept was 14 mm. I believe I've read that different people achieve slightly different amounts of lowering but typically in the 14-17 mm range. That amount is enough for me and the process was flawless.

Yes there are a few lowering products out there from modules to links... All depends on your wants & budget. Most people go with vcds/obd11 when they see the cost of those modules and don't really have a need for all they offer.

Yeah I went 12, but had to go back up when I added spacers.. Lot of variables people don't take into account... Hell, even the roads where you live/drive are a factor
