ZF8HP code P2787 "Clutch Temperature Too High" - Any ideas?

Hey all,
Casually driving back from dinner w/ the wife, maybe 55-60*F out, get a CEL. Jump on my OBD11 app and, like clockwork, 2s catless DP codes to clear then a strange one. P278700 Clutch Temperature Too High. Wasn't driving aggressively, no launches, no crazy downshifts, just highway in comfort mode.

Has anyone else seen this?

Have not seen much on that one.
I'm not sure there even is a physical clutch temperature sensor it could just be a calculated algorithm based on ATF fluid temp sensor and other inputs.
Perhaps it is just a faulty sensor, but I'd hope there would be a fault indicating an ATF sensor issue or something like P0711 (ATF Temp sensor performance)
But AFAIK even the ATF temp sensor is buried deep in the trans on the mechatronic unit.

Any chance your DP's are too close to the trans and causing the temps to rise?

Might be worth logging ATF temps.

Is the TCU tune new or old, off-the-shelf or custom? Maybe the RS7 was picking up on how you and the wife were behaving at dinner!

GK1 - Temps were lower than usual (late evening during winter in Scottsdale, Arizona) and driving in comfort mode on highway (sub 100). Tranny, in theory, would have been running cooler than going to the grocery store. The DPs are unchanged since my ownership of ~1yr. No change there.
Alabama - Lmao my behavior is none of my vehicle's biz! lol - but probably. Also, Mirza did my TCU tune and an amazing tune it was - but no change there for last year or so.

Maybe just a weird one-off. I cleared it. Will see if it pops up again!

Updates - No reoccurrences since code clear. When code originally came up - my toddler was in the driver seat (motor off) and pressing every button he could find, running down the battery. I had a number of trivial codes. Probably just a low-voltage issue. No issues since.

That's great! I wonder how many mechanics when faced with an unusual electrical issue will ask if there is a toddler in the family?
