2014 E55 vs 2016 S6

He guys,
I’ve been looking for something to replace my A6 Prestige.
I need something that power wise I’m not going backwards lol.
My A6 is very fast… see my sig( 0-60) under 3 sec. And pulled away from many high HP cars, trackhawk, stg1 DME Tuned C63 just to name a few.

I was looking at a 2014 C63S with 84k miles for 42$ and a 2016 S6 with 78k for 39$.
I know I know in stock form they are not it as fast as my A6. But for the E55 I was looking at EuroCharge Stg1’d the S6 I’d jump right to STG2 DS1. Just some thoughts from the group. Getting E85 is becoming and issue where I am, driving 45 mins back and forth to get it is getting hard :/. Thank you for any input.

What am I missing here. The only Mercedes I see is AMG E63 for 2014. Why when I google E55 do I get early 2000s Mercedes and nothing else. even a 8 year old Benz to modify is probably asking for it.

S6 hands down. Old Merc interiors are not very nice IMO. The only reason to get the Merc would be if you want to do slidey things and or burnouts...

I've seen the newer modified E63s tear up a road course and it looked like it went well. Other than that I'd only consider an E63s if it was 2019 and up. Yes it costs more, but I can't deal with the interior of a 2014 and the new model's exterior makes the older one look really dated. Since I'm not spending that cash for the newer Benz, 2016 S6 with modded turbos it is... Seriously, the Merc seats look like they are out of a 2009 Passat and the back seats look like the ones that flip down from one of those trucks with a third door option from a few decades ago. I don't know if that is the camera angle or what. I am avoiding talking about the dash and console...

To add to the mix, the Panamera 970 turbo is getting pretty affordable and imo is a step above in terms of handling, transmission programming and interior layout.

I do love AMG Merc's and the E63 is up there. However, they are pretty small in the back seat department.

The Mercedes M157 engine has some issues that can be VERY expensive to fix. Like cylinder scoring, timing issues, etc, etc. It's a great engine, very raw, sounds great, but even when it comes to max tuning potential, it's not the best choice. Reliability is a concern.
The 4.0TT in the Audi (and the newer 4.0L TT in the Merc AMGs) is much much better choice.

Before i bought my S6, i was very to close to pull the trigger on a 2016 Merc GLE 63S AMG (same M157 5.5TT engine) but after long extensive research and multiple conversations with reputable Mercedes tuners, i got convinced that i should stay from the M157 if i want a reliable engine that can take serious tuning. The newer Mercedes 4.0TT is a better engine, but it's also more $$$.

The older M113K engine (5.5L SuperCharged) in the SL55 or E55 is a great 'old-school' powerhouse and super reliable with a ton a potential but it comes only with older cars and usually RWD only. Decisions decisions! :)

Have you thought about looking at a E550 with the 4.7 biturbo? That’s roughly in the same class as a S6 and from what I’ve read they make good power on minimal gains and seem to be more stout than the 5.5 even.
