Wanted: Bentley manual

Looking to buy a Bentley manual that covers the 2.7t (S4,A6,Allroad,etc…). Anybody have one kicking around they don’t need?

For what it's worth, I have NEVER in my life seen an actual paper B5 Audi Bentley manual...especially S4/RS4. Funny because they are super common for most other VAG models.

I downloaded this exactly when I first bought mine. Printed it out in multiple formats, 10/10 would recommend.

There are some docs missing from that download that's been up a while. I've tried all sorts of different sources and it's always the same set with same things missing. The mechanical stuff is all there (or at least most) I think, but with all the body work I've been doing lately I've found quite a bit missing, especially for avants.

Well, this is all good info. I’m struggling to get downloaded files up and running properly. I’ve got paper manual for mk1/2’s and Vanagon’s, so I though paper ones would be easy to come by. I found the C5/A6 one on partsgeek for $80 or so. That would cover engine specs, but that’s all. I’m building my motor this month and wanted all torque specs, procedures and what not as I’m use to having a Bentley for my cars. Guess I’ll just be googling everything.

Torque specs are in the pdf files but it does take a bit of time to find everything and over the course of putting an engine back together you aren't working on just one section like the manuals are split up.

One of the members on here I believe made this site (link below) and this is always a good place to start for the common torque specs. Double check some of the really important ones against the manuals and Google results. If I recall there are one or two on his list I do differently.

Also, I use a Mac. Seems this limits me a bit.

Can't you just setup a virtual machine onto ur Mac, run a bootleg copy of Window, and be able to use old software like this?

Sorry pc guy but i know a Mac friend whos done this before.

Yes, you can do that. I run ETKA (parts diagrams) and ELSA (dealer service tool) in this way. Nothing is updated (like part successions) anymore, but it is the best reference material I've found anywhere.

Edit: Just to be clear, I don't use a Mac either but VMs don't care.

This. I was going to run boot camp and give this a try, then my buddy told my I can just take his spare laptop with Etka/Elsa. So, I guess I’m getting what I need

To anyone interested in buying a hard-copy of a Bentley manual that pertains to the B5 in general, they do exist. I picked one up through Craigslist a few years ago for cheap, and didn't realize how good of a deal it was at the time.
A few places currently have them, with the prices ranging from ~$100 to $299. It extensively covers the B5 A4, including all of the many parts and systems that are shared between the B5 A4 and B5 S4.
The listing notes that it is not for S4 specific parts, and that S4 models must use CD-ROM version AU8054000.

You can buy access to the official Audi erWin repository for 24 hours and download everything for whatever models you are interested it. One day is $35, three days is $60. It's all PDF files, the downside is that they don't hyperlink directly to each other and they prompt you to click through a 'trained personnel only' disclaimer when you open the file**. It's a great option if you want the official service manuals from Audi, and it's pretty cheap. I have both an S4 and an A6 so a one day subscription made sense.

With an active subscription you can also enter your VIN and get 'vehicle specific information', which is the original detailed build sheet with all option codes and delivery date, directly from Audi. Pretty cool. My S4 had 143 option codes, the A6 had 147. Some are obvious like APB and 01E, others not so much.

Those links don’t work for me for some reason. Does Bentley manual has a write up on rear differential? I’m in the process of rebuilding mine and trying to figure out what Audi tool/socket to use for pinion nut. Also what torque spec when putting it back together.
