    2021 RS7 Strange Noise

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Everyone,

This is my first post, so be gentle =) about a month ago my RS7 started making this weird noise, happens mostly when slowing down/braking/speeding up at low speeds. Took it in to Audi, and they said they were unable to "reproduce" (which means they didnt even try because it literally happens nonstop). Wanted to get some input from the community before I bring it back to them. I should also mention the first month I had it the differential cracked and had to be completely replaced (along with the exhaust for a separate issue). I really love this car, but starting to bother me it has so many issues.

    Any help/insight is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Cody

I believe there were some issues with bad struts making odd noises in the rear on certain cars. The Carwow guy Matt mentioned it in his review. See the thread FBAnder started on 4-24

Definitely not the noise I was hearing from my bad pass rear strut but doesn't rule it out. Almost sounds like air escaping from somewhere.

You should offer to take the service advisor and/or technician for a ride in the car. If it happens all the time, then it should be fairly easy to convince them.

I did that last time, they said they thought they heard something and they would try to reproduce, next time I go I’m going to ask for foreman.

One of my friends said it sounded like something escaping from turbo, so that’s a possibility. If they have to replace the turbo, I will not be pleased..

Take a look at your intake where it connects to the throttle body. Mine has come loose twice and it makes some interesting noises under low to medium load when this happens.

Hi Cody. I too heard something almost like a rubbing coming from the engine primarily on deceleration but it was quite loud and happened for just a few minutes. It was the first cold evening of the season. I haven’t heard it since.

Hi Rob, I'm not super familiar with the guts of cars, so I'm not sure where to look for this? If it's easy enough to explain to me that would be great, if not, totally understand.

I was really hoping that was the case, but since it happened multiple days (and still is), I gave up on my hope lol

For those who were wondering.. went on ride with foreman, it was the exhaust flap making that sound (which was the initial reason for them replacing the entire exhaust the first time). They are replacing just the flap again, so we shall see if the noise disappears after I pick it up tomorrow..

Bro, my car made the same exact noise. They ended up replacing the whole exhaust system! I think it was a bad exhaust valve. They replaced the whole exhaust because the valve wasn't its own part. I would like to say it's perfect now but I do hear it it from time to time still.

Wow.. they have already replaced my entire exhaust once, now they say they can just replace the valve. I went to pick up my car today, and now they have to order valve for right side.. left side (the one they replaced) seems better but still hear the noise, just not as bad.. we shall see how it sounds after they replace the second one..
