OBDEleven Limitations - Coding new H9-AGM battery

    Hi everyone,

I have discussed this with the C7 telegram group, but wanted to get some extra opinions from others who have also went through this.

I recently purchased a new H9-AGM battery (100Ah, 950CCA) to replace my stock H8-AGM battery (92Ah, 850CCA), and plan to re-code it myself.

However, there is an issue; both OBDElevem and VCDS don't have a size dropdown for 100Ah (only 95Ah and 105Ah). I saw someone on here set their new 100Ah battery to 105Ah in the system, but it is my understanding that this is wrong as the car will attempt to overcharge the battery since the system thinks its larger than it really is.

So, will setting my new 100Ah battery to 95Ah in OBDEleven be the best option? I think it might actually slightly increase its lifespan.

    Thanks for the feedback.

OBDEleven does have a dropdown option for 92Ah, so the current battery is configured correctly.

Bumping for more visibility. Has anyone been able to code a new 100Ah battery using either OBDEleven or VCDS?

100mah is not a selection available in the control module, no app will let you do that as it doesn't exist. Choose the closest mah without going over.

This is odd. My car came with battery code J0Z. The Deka (East Penn) battery replacement is group 95R (H9). The claimed CCA is 950, the same as the Duralast, but the claimed 20 hour capacity is 105Ah, not 100Ah. The 105Ah would match the coding in OBDEleven and VCDS. The Varta H9 AGM also lists a capacity of 105Ah. Both Varta and Deka claim to match OEM spec. I wonder if either the Autozone listing is a typo, the manufacturer was not trying to exactly match OEM spec., or these numbers are not especially accurate. Using the highest number in VCDS without going over seems a reasonable approach, but I don't know details on how the BEM functions.

I can confirm that the Autozone H9 listed above was in fact 105Ah, so the website product listing was wrong as I know the battery has recently changed (its now Made in Korea, and not Germany). I ended up returning it because it was 6 months old when I finally received it after it was lost in the mail for a week.

I ended up going with an Advance Auto Diehard H9 instead (also 950CCA), that had a fresh manufacturing date and was Made in Germany with an OEM BEM sticker. The Advance battery was 100Ah so I ultimately coded it to 95Ah using OBDEleven.
