Hello, 2-3 weeks ago I purchased my first Audi, it's a 2014 S4 and has 122k miles. I've put about 2000 miles on it so far, and the car is perfect except for it's oil consumption. It goes though a quart every 120-150 miles. Just replaced the pcv a couple days ago, and see no change in oil consumption. Checked underneath the car and everything is still bone dry aside from a couple very minor seeps. Are there any common issues aside from pcv that can cause this? I did some searching and didn't see any reports of consumption nearly this high. I cant see any smoke out the exhaust while driving, but a buddy told me it looks like there's a little bit of blue smoke when I let off. check engine light is not on, car idles smooth and pulls good. Pretty surprised it hasn't obliterated the cats and o2 sensors at this point. I will most likely be dropping off with the dealer's shop next week but would greatly appreciate any input.

Piston rings aren't a super common issue on this car, but that sounds like your issue. Would most likely be a motor swap situation, as a rebuild would be insanely expensive if you're paying for labor.

Hopefully it's something less severe, but I would be pretty nervous having serious oil consumption with no visible leaks even after replacing PCV

Well you already had the PCV valve changed and that's usually the most common cause of oil consumption on this engine. One other thing to check is the oil filter housing above the transmission, sometimes that o-ring leaks but that would be visible. I was having to add a quart of oil every 750 to 1K miles and decided to tear down my engine at 150K since I had the timing chain rattle. I opted to rebuild my engine rather than to swap cause for all I know, a used engine could eventually have the same issues down the road. I did the timing chain job and pistons/rings myself. Parts with a discount were already almost $4K. Piston rings were like $100 for one piston but new pistons with rings included were only like $50 more so I got new pistons too. You could technically get away with spending under $1500 in parts but if you have the engine torn apart, I would definitely do the timing chain tensioners since they're known to go bad. Labor to do piston rings is about 40 hours. So this could easily be a $5K+ repair if you have a shop do the work. Get a wet compression test done and go from there. After replacing the piston rings on my engine, I'm consuming maybe a quart every 15K to 20K now.

I feel like I’m at the starting stages of that. 103k miles recently replaced pcv and still having oil consumption. It’s not nearly that bad, I’m at about 1/4 qt every 1k miles, but still it’s looming in my mind on whether to keep the car or move on…

Not sure if it'll be your issue but, I had oil consumption continuing even after replacing the PVC valve too. It was much less than you, though, about a quart every 2K miles. Turned out to be the breather hose (06E103207AP) that comes right off the PVC. Scan for codes. I had a P052E00 "PCV Regulator Valve Performance" soft code. No check engine light.

yes, I had this issue too. I think it probably should be replaced along with PCV

I don’t know if it was replaced when the pcv was being done. I think only the coolant crossover pipe was replaced. Is this a similar job, like right under the supercharger or do you have to get the pcv loose to replace it?

I’m getting some suspension work done tomorrow, I’ll ask the tech to check that out

Im in the midst of a tear down myself, although mine had a fatality.. LOL Found ring debris in the intake ports. Anyway, question for you, did you do a break in procedure with the new pistons and rings? I have a new rotating assembly coming (cylinder walls are most likely damaged) and was curious about a break-in procedure.
