    adaptive headlights?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm trying to determine if the 8v has adaptive headlights (swivel when turning the steering wheel). I don't notice this myself when I am in my car driving at night and searching this forum was inconclusive. Can anyone confirm? I have a 2017 S3 Premium with dynamic and technology package.

    Thanks.

I own a 2017 S3 as well. Yes they should swivel. Based off steering wheel input you will see the light shift from side to side. I believe they actually use the "all-weather lights" to emulate this effect. I know this because when you turn the switch on and off you will see for a split second the shifted light turn on and then off.

Really? cool. Prolly only if you opted for the matrix LED headlights.... I know my older one doesn't have those.

It's just using the "fog" light...just like Nissan always been doing.

I believe you are talking about the "cornering" light that turns on when you make a turn. I am asking about the actual LED headlight swiveling as you turn your steering wheel. I know Golf R's have this feature but from what I can tell now, doesn't look like my S3 has it.

S3 LED headlights don't swivel left/right, only up and down.

The S3 lights use all weather lights as quasi cornering lights.

The S3 headlights will actually dip just slightly at high speeds to prevent the car from blinding other drivers. You can also observe this behavior on car start up. When I turn the car on the headlights in my car dip and then go up, and then re-level. So there is a function that allows it to tilt up or down.

There is none that allow it to pan left or right though. I am curious to know if there is manual adjustment for that now. For example, if you get into an accident and want to shift the headlight housing horizontally because it got shifted during the accident. I am going to take a look later.

The up and down at startup is just a leveling test and vertical movement is only used to adjust for load in the car as I understand it. If you want cornering lights, look elsewhere, like the Citroen DS (came out in 1955) that turned the lights with the steering wheel so you lit up where you were going - long overdue for all cars to have this! :)

But still requires the adaptive headlight option for it to work at all ya?

I can't confirm as I haven't coded this mod myself yet but all the other vcds changes I made were from the same source and they work (link with everything below). The description (which may not be legible in the image) says "the coding will allow you to activate the static cornering light function utilizing the audi standard fog lights."
