Please tell me about the FCPEuro Oil Return

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I decided to go with Liquimoly oil on the current oil change with the intention of taking advantage of their awesome return policy. I understand I have to put the oil back in the jugs then seal in a bag before mailing back. My question is which oil do I send back? Do I send what I just took out or do I wait until the next exchange time and send that oil back?

I fully admit that I can ask dumb questions from time to time and I might be over thinking this.

If this is your first time using FCP then you cannot return your old oil. What you will do is when you do the next change you will pour the oil from your first order into the new jugs and seal it in a bag. You then process a return on their website (super easy) and send it back. They will credit your payment method once they receive and process the oil. Hope that helps!

    Couple of things...

I can totally appreciate a company like FCP and their return policy. It really gives a customer a lot of comfort knowing that they will take care of them. I personally haven't used them that often. No particular reason. Just haven't.

But something strikes me as key, in your first post... "with the intention of taking advantage..."

Don't you think sending in your old oil, just to get a refund on your NEW oil... is taking advantage?

I'd doubt FCP is getting any kind of credit from their venders, like Liqui-moly. I'm guessing their policy is more to drive customers to their business, and they willing to take a small hit to drive that customer base. I would just feel weird about it, personally.

It's like being in a local parts store, when you hear the counter guy say... "When the pads wear out, just bring them in... we will GIVE you new ones..."

Both are wear and tear items, designed to wear out. You are expected to pay to replace them. Now, if after 5k miles the pads are toast... I expect some kind of warranty situation to come into play.

But really.... used oil... take the time to rebottle it up, bag it, ship it, just to get your money back. And then repeat every oil service...? Seems like a lot of work for not a huge financial impact on the consumer. And more of a negative financial impact on the company allowing it to happen.

    Just my $.02

FCP Euro doesn't really care, they explicitly say on their FAQ that wear items are totally included:

The reason is simple. Loyal customers are much more valuable than anything. They're not the only company that features a similar policy - Costco famously lets you return non-electronics YEARS after purchase. They literally have no time limit on the return policy.

Oh don't I know it. Been working for Costco over 20 years. Seen it all....

    Maybe that's why I'm jaded... ;)

I agree 100%. I get that it’s the companies policy, but I would just be too embarrassed with myself to be that person who returns their used oil for a refund.

Goes towards the point of... "Just because you can do something, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do."

as much as this is a good thing for people, and some obviously don't like a refund for oil thats his choice. Myself i like the process but for me....just can't get behind Liquid moly oil it's not bad oil but for the money i'd use something else. done alot of reviews on oil and they are always kinda middle of road oil.

If you're gonna do the oil, get an extractor like this one. Get at least the 8 L model. Make sure the oil is warm and it pumps really easy. If you have A7, oil filter is easy and on top. If you have S model, you have to access filter below. Prob the same with RS model.

I've used their return policies for oil and other things. If you wanna be high horse with morals, then don't return the oil. The reality is most people are just lazy to box anything, return anything, print a label, drop it off, etc. They know the statistical returns are likely much less than expected and same repeat customers buying from them.

BTW some forum member pointed out once that you can pay with paypal at checkout and paypal will reimburse you up to 30 dollars on shipping 12x a year I think for any return.

It's a marketing move to get attention and new customers. It works. I have not done it personally, but I see it on other forums constantly. I spend a ton of money with them a year so I really should make use of it.

One big thing for me is that I live every close to them, so shipping is cheap. If I lived in CA, for example, then maybe I would be less inclined to ship a $60 package of oil to save like $10.

It makes sense to return if the shipping is not too expensive. I'd rather take the 10 minutes to repackage the oil and filters to save $80. Plus then FCP recycles it which is better for the environment and saves me a trip to the local auto parts store to dispose of old oil.

As for liqui moly, I am not particularly knowledgeable about oil and what is best for our cars, but FCP usually has OEM oil as well (which is what I have been using).

I'm about to send back oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter and wipers. After the first out of pocket expenses, this time it's just gonna cost me $35 in return shipping from Seattle. Make sure to use Pirateship to get a good rate tho

Thank you all for the info and insight. It will likely be a year from now before my next oil change and will have to consider it then. Because of working from home during the pandemic and my future roll I will be a home worker probably until I retire at this point. I went from putting 10,000 miles on in 110 - 120 days to less than 10,000 in a year.

same boat, even when i go back to work only 2 days a week (whenever that will happen) so going from 60 miles a day to zero most days my 7k oil changes are much farther apart.
