18058 - powertrain data bus error, and washer fluid level error.

    Hey Guys,

After retrofitting an RNS-E into my B5 S4, I got this error, and a washer fluid warning light.

I tried recoding my cluster on channel 60, but it's already 0 (it's correct for me). What can be the possible solutions for it? Which pins are the can for the ECU? Maybe there is a problem. Maybe it will solve the washer fluid problem as well.

Also if not, how can I short the washer fluid in the cluster? I see pin 15 is the level sensor, but leading it to the ground is not the solution I think.

    Thanks!

CAN bus is pins 5 and 6 on the instrument cluster center 32-pin gray connector. Pin 5 = CAN-H, pin 6 = CAN-L.

Also, for RNS-E you shouldn’t touch the instrument cluster’s adaptation channel 060. You should instead change adaptation channel 062 value to 7.

Thank you. Is it only for the US, or for the EU as well? (mine is from the EU). I thought number 5 (radio plus navigation) is correct. But the error code in the post is not related to the RNS-E, it's related to the ECU. I deleted the existing canbus wire from pin5-6 (it led me to the cd changer in the trunk), and replaced it with the data clock from pin 13-14 (don't remember), and relocated it to the radio connector as well.

There should be no difference in NA vs. EU instrument cluster pin assignments. As long as we’re talking about post-2000 clusters with the digital clock.

As for adaptation, the only thing to change for RNS-E is channel 062.

I previously said to set the value to 7. That would be correct if you have the hands-free Bluetooth telephone module installed. Otherwise it should be 5.

To be specific, the value in channel 062 should be the sum of the following installed items:

    +00001 = Radio
+00002 = Telephone OR Telematics (NAR)
    +00004 = Navigation System
    +00008 = Telematics (RoW)

Thank you good sir, This part is correct for me.

I read it the 18058 error is related to the bad cluster programming, bad canbus. Maybe related to the recode part, and channel 60. But maybe I did something wrong, and one of my fuses went off. And maybe the washer fluid problem will be solved as well if this problem is corrected. I think because of this error the instrument cluster cannot communicate with the father fluid sensor. I connected the two wires in the sensor together, but the light was still on.

    From rosstech:

Double check all your fuses I did the same swap with mk2 unit and couldn’t figure out why I had random errors after install. Check the instrument cluster fuse and indeed it had blown even though the cluster still powered on. Fixed my issues
