    What Floor Mats?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey,

Recently picked up a 2017 SQ5 and it didn't come with floor mats. I bought some trim and fit ones from Costco to hold me over, but they suck and don't stay put. I deal with plenty of snow so I think my choices are either Weathertech or Husky. Any reason to choose one over the other? Is there another mat to consider. I did search, but wanted some updated answers.

    Thanks!

I've had the Weathertech set (including the trunk liner) since last December and they are the best option bar-none. The amount of dirt and water that they retain is pretty astounding, especially when I go to detail my car in the late winter/early spring. They are not cheap but they do a lot in keeping your carpets wear and dirt-free.

I went with 3DMaxpider Kagu Floor Mats. The material is light and has a nice weave pattern. Most importantly, they're not slippery; perfect for rain/snow months. Washing is also easy, just brush, rinse, and dry.

I found them a bit more premium than Weathertech mats, which are also great but I thought they're a bit rugged/truck-like for a Q5.

    Paid around $250 for a complete set (4 front/rear + cargo liner/trunk)

I agree, those look far nicer than the Weathertech that I have.

+1 for the 3DMaxpider ones great quality mats that look good too. I have the full 5-piece set. But I do feel the Weathertech ones will do a better job for Michigan winters.

    I went with these. 3D MAXpider-L1AD00902201 Audi Q5 2009-2017 / Audi SQ5 2013-2017 Custom Fit Carpet Floor Mats Liners, Classic Series (1st & 2nd Row, Gray) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B006YBAN...43JZ2WEW8KFKSY

I like the look of the carpet. My one negative is that the gray is a shade off of my Q5s carpet. I also live in the desert, so I did not need the wet weather protection of other styles. I have had Weathertech in previous vehicles, and I found them to be very utilitarian and pretty cheap looking. They also stained very easily. To me, they were very over priced for what they were. However, like I said it barely rains where I live.

OEM, every VW and Audi I had, always got OEM rubber floor mats. Use them all year round and they hold up well.

They have a lip around, if you spill something or have mud on shoes or when it’s raining, it keeps all the dirt/water in pretty good.

I'll also echo the 3D Maxpider floormats work well for me. In my first SQ5 I had the weathertech full set and they were fine, but the maxpider have better grippy texture (the weathertechs are downright slippery when new) and were significantly cheaper. I still love weathertech, but these were a cheap alternative.

As a sidenote, the OEM weather mats are "just ok" and actually had worn all the way through by the previous owner of my car.

I have weathertech now and the rear ones are a joke, and the edges are curling / mis-shapen.

On past vehicles I've had OEM but they weren't molded nearly as nice as the aftermarket ones; the edges don't come up nearly as far.

My favorite set so far have been Husky's; in the Subaru they fit well and the rear was a 1-peice which protected the shaft hump. That's what I'd get if doing it again.

I have the Husky set coming tomorrow. I like the look of the 3D ones, but worried they won't do well with winters here. Husky set was on sale, so figure I'd give those a shot.

3D Maxpider here too, have used them for the past 2 years in WNY winters and have no regrets. Used to have Weathertech's in my A4 and these are so much better. Not slippery, look better, and are much lighter/conform to the car better.
