RS6 roof carrier

I am looking to install a roof mounted box on my 21 RS6.

The dealer told me the Base Carrier Bars part number 4K9071151 are $357. I am trying to understand if this is all I would need in addition to the box itself? And can any box work with the Audi carrier bars. I am open to suggestions.

I came across a few threads with the Thule part numbers but that stuff just does not seem easy to come by.

That’s all you would need, in order to run a roof box, assuming that the roof box fits, (length and width) The box should have some type of “claws” that can clamp onto the cross bars.

Thank you. I have not actually purchased a box yet. Are there any known to fit that might help me narrow down my search? The audi accessory web site does not show any.

Try emailing Ivar at Skiguard: [email protected]. He’s been sourcing the Thule set, though they’re tough to keep in stock. Just tell him you heard about him from Yasser and I’m sure he’ll do what he can.

I had a set of Thule wing bars and roof box. I believe the box will work with the Audi OEM wing bars as well.

The thule box fits fine on the audi oem roof rails.

The one above looks like the Thule vector Alpine, I have the same one and confirm it works with the Audi OEM crossbars.

Love to help you with Thule bars but Thule NA has not brought any over yet. Contact the guys at Skiguard USA as they’ve been bringing over some with their roof box shipments.

Is it better to use oem bars, or thule whisper bars and the like? i’m not sure if the difference.

I'm going for the Thule bars. IMO, the look is cleaner (Nemesis), as opposed to the OEM bars (Mylpka) that sort of sit on top of the mount and have a more disconnected look.

I reached out to Skiguard as they are local to me, and they actually informed me that the Thule bars are now available on their website. It sounds like they can beat Thule's pricing though.

I had the Thule wing bars due to its cleaner look. Back then they were not even available in the US so I had to order them from a UK dealer. I also had the Thule Vector Alpine box (same setup as jimminez). Have been running them for 2 winters now and no issues so far.
