    Hi,

After doing this, it makes the car WAY more up to date and modern feeling. Best mod hands down. I got mine from RSnav.com
(I have no affiliation with RSnav)

Heres a vid of easy install.

I actually havent looked into this enough - I thought it was a full navigation replacement, but it appears to be more of a modification that still retains full factory functionality with the addition of Carplay. Am I seeing that right?

I didn’t get RSNav specifically, but yes. I was able to add carplay/android auto while keeping every factory function I had. For mine, you just hold down the mode button on the steering wheel and you can switch between carplay and factory screen. The one I got even allowed me to retrofit a factory backup camera to my car too.

RSNAV is the well known retrofit solution for CarPlay/AndAuto. There are others too. The factory system all stays in place, the retrofit replaces the screen unit. Basically an Android tablet. So it's an Android touchscreen tablet, until you say "show me the car system", then it shows what the factory system is sending to the screen. So think of having a tablet with an external input that the factory system is connected to.

I also added a CarPlay module to my b8,5 - not rsnav - but one I got from China.
Works very well, I also did add front and rear camera to the module - it’s very easy and cheap.

Can you elaborate on the front camera? I’m curious on mounting and accessibility with your module.

Just for clarification: There are two different things you can do.
    1. Install the RSNAV unit (in video) which retains the factory OEM screen looks 100% oem, but when you hold NAV, it turns to CarPlay
    2. install a different tablet looking thing in front of the screen which allows (much more extensive of an install)

It’s an easy fix - the front camera is mounted just under the Audi rings and then the video cable to the CarPlay module.
Then you can get live video from the front by pressing an icon in the CarPlay menu - or it’s automatic activated when going from reverse to drive (auto gearbox).
Only got this image - but the camera it’s not that obvious when you stand in front of the car IMG_0277.jpg

    Hi,

Could you provide a link, did the front camera come with the module?
