Help needed regarding resetting DSG via OBDELEVEN iphone

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi All,

I searched on the forum but couldn't find anything that seemed to apply to me, as well as searching on YouTube for tutorials.

Firstly, my car has the CDNC 2.0T but equipped with the 7 - Speed S-Tronic DSG gearbox (MNA NRW is what it says on the Manufacturers sticker in the trunk)

Trying the resetting of the DSG from the YouTube Videos; showing Golfs, Polos, Skodas, Audi A6 - Foot on the accel 10 - 30 sec then ignition etc etc, it doesn't seem to do anything. ( don't hear that feint mechanical sound from the engine bay, nor do I notice anything different with driving)

So using the IPhone version of the OBDELEVEN there is only one tutorial on YouTube showing a user doing it on the S3, which seems to have very different options on the 'APP' > 'Transmission' and 'Basic Settings' etc

Can anyone provide guidance on how to do it fo rthe B8.5 A4 iPhone version?

    Thanks

NRW reflects the code for the transmission. So you have a type 0B5 code NRW, which was used in the B8.5 type 8K from May '12 to May '13. The type 0B5 is also called DL501-7F (fwd) or DL501-7Q (quattro).

VW products are of course not going to use a DL501 transmission. They would have used a transverse transmission, DQ250 6spd or DQ500 7spd if old enough, or a DQ381 7spd later. This would be true of the Audi clones of those VW products as well (A3/TT).

A4 switched from the DL501 to the DL382 at B9. You should focus on procedures for B8 products using the DL501, such as the type 8K A4/S4, type 8T A5/S5, and type 8R Q5. So for NAR markets, the S4/S5 forums might have more relevant material, as the 0B5 was not used in the A grade models here.

MNA is not related to your transmission, per se. That's the code for the type 0BC open rear diff that you have. Has a 37:9 ratio and is used with the DL501-7Q with 4-cyl engines in the B8.5 type 8K.

The task is not particular to the tool used to invoke it; they're all going to invoke the Basic Setting routing. I don't know if "clutch adaptation" is what you're trying to do - https://youtu.be/2SL-6nbgSoI VCDS and OBDeleven should function the same in this regard. Both should display all the same basic settings and operate each the same as well. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...rbox_(DSG/0B5) Obviously, I feel Ross-Tech brings more knowledge value to the table than OBDeleven has provided the community thus far.

Heya smac, thanks for the detailed response and narrowing the gearbox code as well.

Yes it is the Quattro version.

Looking at the video, it looks straight forward and all the steps seem to be there on the OBDELEVEN “basic settings” :

    Image1631977772.409562.jpg

However, I’m not certain of his STEP 6, can’t seem to figure out there he went in the OBDELEVEN compared to VCDS

Also my TCU has a tune, i heard it shouldn’t cause any issues with it?

The reason I’m doing this is that Im noticing the gear changes seem a little odd lately… this is since I had the TCU tuned, (which came as a bundled/package with the Custom dyno tune… ) hard to explain, but mid throttle acceleration, 2-3 rd ..some gear changes may seem a bit weird, hard to explain…maybe a bit too harsh+inconsistent engagement-feeling..
Apparently it’s not a big problem with the B8.5 to have Mechantronics issues.. and Prior to this custom tune, It had the REVO TCU tune for about 4+ years and didn’t seem to behave like this…(unless its the custom k04 ECU tune itself that’s causing this weird feeling)
So I thought maybe I give this reset a try and see what happens.

So if I follow what the video tutorial is showing, can something potentially go wrong if I stuff/make a mistake? Or what’s the worst that can happen?

I’m asking this as I am usually reluctant to touch any coding/adaptations….. few years back I did some adjustments on the Coding/adaptations on the rear number plate lights… and ended up messing things up… couldn’t fix it myself and had to end up taking to a workshop who were proficient with VCDS to correct it.

    Thanks

Step 6 is just live data. This is where OBDeleven blows compared to VCDS, but it's there. OBDeleven just calls it live data, iirc. Measuring values would be the more appropriate VAG lingo.

TCU. So you've changed the TCM from how Audi delivers it, which any procedures for it are based on. So I have no idea if whatever a TCU tune changes would be impacted by an adaptations reset. I would assume not, but I presume nothing when it comes to "someone made changes to how things work". You really should ask the tuner for validation of your action plan involving their custom work. This is where maybe in the S4 forum you might find more relevant associates. They're more likely to seek TCU tunes, and likely more experienced with DSG procedures and how they impact these tuned DSGs.

If you're left having to make a blind go/no go, I'd guess it should not be a problem.
