Daytona Gray Pearl touch up help needed

Hi all hope you can help

Saw a scratch on my door about 3 inches long and deep enough to get to the metal thus need to fix it

I went o local Audi dealer and purchased touch up pens one colour and one clear. Part LSTZ7S

Prepped the scratch by blending the sharp edges and put the color and it’s BLACK pearl I mean black
So I thought it would dry to gray and nope still black and now it looks like someone used a sharpie on my Audi S6

Any recommendations on correct color to use as this one is way too black not even a shade of gray

You have to be super light with those pens, first layer should look almost clear and let it dry before you apply the next layer, repeating until you've built up enough layers that it almost blends in.

I say almost because it will never be perfect with the pen. Just expect this process to take an entire day or 2.

I did put 4 light coats of it

It is either the factory mislabeled the pen or there are few shades of Daytona gray pearl from Audi

There appears to be several codes for Daytona Pearl. Try this site:

If you hit it with a buffer, it may even out. I am talking like a serious one though, not one of those shitty parts store ones.

i learned when doing this to avoid some of that look to tape around it then peel tape after every application. Also with that said extremely difficult to make it look good after all you are brushing paint on...

bets kit i bought was off line and to be honest it looked kinda crappy till i put the clear on it. only kit i found that came with a good clear coat same thing you brush it on (you'll always know that was a touch up)

You’re right the site does provide options in different code and I’ve seen few of them before. Will check my trunk label and see if it matches.

    I'd recommend skipping automotivetouchup.
    I've 2017 S7 Daytona Grey Pearl.

I'd the same experience with Audi pen. I bought by the color code from trunk. Seemed almost black.

I also bought automotivetouchup by the code and the color came out silver. I called them about it as they've a replacement policy. They got my contact information and never got back to me. There is no color depth to it at all.

The best by far color match i got is from Dr Colorchip. The paint color is perfect.
I used it on some small hairline scratches and it did OK (doesn't fill in scratch/chip fully if you follow direction).
Even though they say not to, I use it as a touch up paint all the time. Is it softer than touch up, maybe, but 1.5 years later the chips fills still hold up.
