Back to Quattro after a brief stint with BMW

Long time lurker here, I previously owned a 2013 B8.5 A4 APR Stage 1 for almost 4 years in which I racked up 70,000 happy miles. Kinda got bored at that point and got in to a 2015 BMW 435i Gran Coupe. BMW sure knows how to make a silky smooth inline 6 which pulls hard and I think they program the ZF8 much better than Audi, but their cars are definitely more fragile and long story short, the car suffered catastrophic engine failure after about 1.5 years and 25K miles of ownership (thankfully covered under warranty). After that experience, I was done with BMW and downsized to a new 2020 GLI, which was a big mistake. Decent car for the money but being FWD, it just couldn't put the power down and I never liked driving it for the sake of driving like my past cars. After 6 months of owning it, I was rear ended (no injuries thankfully) and car was written off. After that, I knew which direction I was headed and found myself in a new 2021 Technik (Prestige) Quantum Grey A4 with S-Line & Black Optics (my dream spec). Feels so good to be back to Quattro and this B9.5 is amazing with all the tech features, updated MMI, etc. Short term plans are just tint for now and enjoy it as is for a while before it inevitably ends up tuned...

Nice color! I've owned plenty of vw's and bmw's too. Once you start driving a B9 for a while, you really appreciate a lot of things. I do also like the grille on that trim, very nice!
    2019 A4 B9 on B8's - H&R - JB4 - Cat sticker - Shaved and chamfered hubs for 10mm hubcentric spacers - Bunch of other stuff (sold)
    2018 Q5 B9 PP, no cat sticker.

Thank you! The color shifts from light to dark depending on the light.

Thank you! I would've settled on Ibis White as well, but when I saw this was available, that was the one.

    What a beaut!

I’ve driven more VW’s than I can count my whole life. I’ve always wanted to turn to the premium side and get an Audi but I just never pulled the trigger. About a year ago I finally did and got my B9 and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll never go back to VW unless it’s an old school build, which I’ll do again some day.

I’ve always been curious about BMW and I do love them, but I stick with what I know VW/Audi and Audi always had the better interior/exterior for me. Plus the legendary Quattro. Ive just been a huge fan boy since birth thanks to my family so I’ll never go to that dark side lol

Thank you! The Jetta GLI I owned briefly is basically a less luxurious A4 without AWD, but the A4 is such a huge difference.

Gotta love quattro, lots of people love it and the new variant just works well. I like it more than the bmw, but I really only have rain to comment on between the two so far. I have a spare set of hartmann 18's with blizzaks ready to go this winter. Also got my chains (WA state requires that you carry chains, but rarely are chains required on awd with a M+S tire, just annoying that you do have to carry them, but probably good since conditions can get icy fast).

Even in dry, high speed corners, you can feel a huge difference over FWD, like in the GLI. GLI is a damn fine car, with lots of tuning potential, but as you said, it's hard to keep the power down with FWD.

AK1991, any plans to chip it? JB4 is out if you have the 3pin newer map sensor. I run JB4 and have been skeptical about "piggybacks", but this one just works very well. I get faster 0-60
s than others with an actual ecu flash (free TD1 for them :) ), albeit not much, but more of a bragging right on paper lol. I did dinan with my F31 (and my F30), it was a good punchy addition, but these VAG cars really wake up to tuning.

I had APR stage 1 on my B8.5 and found it to be a solid tune with 0 issues. That being said, will probably hold off for a bit on tuning while still under warranty. I'm fairly happy with the stock power, as MY2021 got the 12V mild hybrid system. C&D got a 4.8 0-60
