    Rs6 Avant proper battery disconnect?

Changing my steering wheel to a flat bottom and want to disconnect the battery. I know it’s located in the trunk on the passenger side. Disconnecting the negative and letting it drain charge from the system for 20 minutes seems to still leave charge in the system. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

What is making you think that is not enough? I've disconnected the battery a few times and the car has never seemed anything but totally dead (and immediately after disconnecting).

Maybe I’m just not waiting long enough for it to drain. Here you can see the ground unplugged and the lights still on in the car. MMI and everything still on. Must be something with the 48v battery

Yep wait a bit longer for it to drain. I thought the same thing my first time I did that.

Thanks. The part you circled is the other end of the ground from that battery pictured. So I guess either way works you just have to let the 48v system shut down which takes a bit after driving the car. Probably easier using your end of the ground though. Thanks man

Interesting. Maybe it's because I hadn't driven the car in a while before disconnecting the battery, so the 48v system was deenergized. Just removing the negative battery terminal completely killed the car immediately.

When I was installing the flat bottom wheel in my car the same thing happened with me when I disconnected the 12V battery... all went dark as with a "normal" car... hmmmmmm

Ya if the car has been sitting a while all will go dark. However if it has been running and then turned off and then you disconnect the battery in the trunk the system will stay powered. It’s a strange setup
