Can’t wait to hear your feedback. I’ve been waiting for this to come out for several months. Do you know by any chance if the car shown in their web page has any other modification?

I don’t know about this. But if you are going to push the car hard I’d seriously consider other mods like sway bars etc.

For me, it’s more about having more power at lower RPM’s. I just want the engine to be more eager to go when I ask it to. The dyno posted on the webpage suggests I won’t be disappointed. I also drive for fuel efficiency so I’ll report back on that aspect as well. 93 octane is standard in my area so I am very optimistic about the results I’ll get. I drive an unmodded allroad.

It will be up to others to measure 0-60 times and the more aggressive settings on the JB4.

Good to see a 3pin map option out there. The other "flash/TD1" tunes are spinning their wheels with speculatory statements.

I get faster 0-60's than other flashes, and I'm on 92 here (2019 4pin). Part throttle drivability is great, just one piece of the puzzle, full suspension helps, too :)

You'll love the option to change some settings, and just having logging there in the app is great! Fun stuff for sure :)

By any chance do you have any Dragy runs (0-60 & 1/4mile)? I have a JB4 stacked on stage 2 software on my B8.5 and curious to see how it compares to the B9!

@deviantspeed or others: what map do you think would be appropriate for “set it and forget it” on 93 octane? Map 2? Again, just looking for a nice performance bump but no shenanigans and want to keep my engine safe.

I'd suggest logging, I use bluetooth and the phone app, but I think you can use usb and a laptop.

If you do have 93, go for it, 2 and 6 from what I have read are the same, but 6 has the adjustability. Just to keep it simple, I'd go with 2 and log it up. I guess you don't have to log, but I would regardless of the tune. Oh and BTW, I ran my obdii connection on the side just because it was easier, plenty of options for that, too.

Actually on second thought, I started with 1, which should be default out of the box. Maybe play with that to get used to it at first. Then if you have an afternoon, try 2 and do some logging. Just my thoughts :) But probably fine just going with 2. Hah, I sound confused now :)

Oh and PS, no draggy here, we were just using some gps app. Honestly most of the tunes are level set. A level down are the piggy backs that only tap 2 sensors. The JB4 taps into 4, and that's why it's so effective.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably end up trying 1 for a while then 2. I’ve studied up on the install and have my route through the firewall all scoped out. Meanwhile, FedEx managed to lose track of my shipment for a day so I spent all Friday waiting to hear the truck in my driveway but never came. Aww, poor me, right?

Fedex has been effing up a lot of my orders lately. I'm in the NW and my last shipment went to Florida, then up here. Last few have been a day late. Poor US :) :)

I did the install today, piece of cake and I took a little spin around my immediate area before dinner with the JB4 set at 2. I’m immediately impressed. The semi rural area I live in has some twisty roads and hills, but only two lanes so no opportunity to really push the accelerator. That will come later this week and I’ll report back. I did notice the increased power and the sense others have reported that “this is how the engine should feel.” As I said in the post above, I’m not going to run test sprints or whatever. (I’m an old man and someone younger is going to have to take up that mantle.) As to fuel economy, which is something I do keep an eye on, by the behavior of the cockpit gauge on my first run, with the JB4 at 2 I don’t seem to have lost much, if any. I’ll have better data on that later as well.

I did come up with what I think is an original method of passing the OBD wire through the grommet between the engine compartment and cabin, one that I will share because it worked extremely well. I was hoping to save myself the step of removing the lower dash panel as many have had to do. I saw on YouTube where a guy showed a small gap, about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide, directly below the steering column that he said you could reach to the grommet through. I reached up in there and indeed was able to touch the grommet with the tips of my fingers. (There’s a small piece of foam that sits just in front. Follow the wire bundle to the grommet and you will get there.) So next, now working from the engine side, I punched a slit into the inner (left) side of the grommet using a kitchen skewer with a 1/4 inch width, being careful only to poke the skewer through a few inches. Now, back in the footwell, I wound a strip of duct tape around the end of the OBD wire connector, leaving a few inches of the strip free, which I was able one handed to wrap around the end of the skewer several times. I wasn’t able to pull the connector through the grommet using only duct tape, obviously, but I did get the leading edge of the duct tape through the slit I had made, and thus to pull the connector right up to the slit. Now all I needed to do was gently push the wire through with my fingertip. The whole process took no more than 10 minutes. The other parts of the procedure involve engine sensor connectors and are quite easy.

I’ll probably run at map 2 for a few runs and then try map 3, which George advised would work well with the 93 octane I use in Knoxville.

    So far, so good!

So with Map 6 and a stock car the JB4 yields 302.46 HP and 344.15 TQ? and that's obviously not to the wheels?

I may not be whom you are asking this question, but the dyno video directly beneath the chart appears to show it was measured at the wheels.

    That is to the wheels.

When testing on European dynos it should translate to 320hp or so on 98Ron fuel as a safe estimate.

There are quite a few of these shipped and I am receiving quite a bit of data and what we normally do is refine and revise the maps based on this. Initially all the maps are conservatively tuned. Also on the dyno we take the highest baseline. With some heat soak the car lost power stock but does make a bit more stock than what is claimed in my opinion.

Thanks for your reply. What should I expect with 93octane on a fully stock 2021 A4 45TFSI? What’s the highest HP achieved under those parameters?

Answering your question literally, 261 HP, lol.

Here’s my perspective, maybe it will help you, maybe not. Right now, the JB4 is the only solution available to tune this particular engine. So, you can wait for other choices, or you can start having fun now. Admittedly it is not a trivial expenditure at $529 plus your choice of connection mode. However, even at 300 HP you would notice the difference for sure. Finally, to answer your question secondhand (since I asked this of George by email) I was told to expect ~310 HP on 93. (I won’t speak to “highest obtained.’)

I can’t give a wonkier answer since I don’t know what software and hardware challenges the developers faced in making this tune. Are you aware of the n54tech.com forums? Check there as well.

From a marketing stand point we will advertise 315hp. Once someone tests on a Maha dyno in Europe that does the conversion to flywheel we will post that dyno up. Typically onthe older engine we seeing 320hp+ so should be there around. For now go on the wheel power. Some add 20% and create a computer generated graphic but this car wont make 360hp. At 10% wheel losses its 330hp etc.

Update: I have driven for a couple weeks in tune map 2. Very pleased when the boost kicks in around 2500-3000RPM. I am going to try map 3 for a while. Meanwhile, any concerns about losing fuel efficiency are unfounded. If anything, my MPG’s have gone up a fraction.

Very happy with the JB4 so far, and also a shout out to George who helped me solve a loose connection problem in the intake manifold sensor (my fault). Responded over a weekend! Talk about customer support.

Added the JB4 to my 2021 A4 45 about a week now and it has been solid, I started on Map1 for about an hour and then went straight for Map3 and the car just feels so strong. Need to do some data logs so that can start getting into a more powerful custom tune, but so far so good. George has been very patient with me and my dumb questions, really big shout out for all the help.

Can you be a bit more specific in your experience so far. Could you describe your experience in terms of bottom, mid and top end acceleration? Is it pulling linear all the way to the redline or is there a surge? Also, are you hardwire or bluetooth?

It is strong through out, and even more so after George sent over a couple of tweaks. I also don't have a stock car, I have an 034 intake, strut brace, transmission dog bone, transmission mount, differential mounts, subframe mounts, rear sway bar, I have access to 93oct, and a few more bolts on coming. So my experience may be different then others who have just added it to a completely stock car. It is a turbo car so there is always lag to start with but once boost builds it pulls really strong all the way to redline. I did the hardwire just to start, I may add the Bluetooth connection at a later time but right now I'm not seeing any reason to.

Are you the guy on their forum site trying to use a custom map? If so, have you made any progress?

I am still digging mine. No lugging anymore and just very ready to perform in all situations. As I accumulate more miles from new I am untwisting this baby more. The other day I had her up into the 6000’s rpm and that was fun

Ok I’m ready to buy it. I just have a couple of questions regarding the Bluetooth connection.
1-Do you have to buy the $27.99 app to control it?
2-If you have the app, have you had any issues connecting to the car?

The app is sold separately by the developer.

With the bluetooth connection, yes you need the app to change Maps etc. I have been using the app for ~2yrs now and it has been great, connects every time.

Sent George some new data logs, added a 3" down pipe and a full FORGE DV setup to the car, JB4 has been solid so far, looking forward to some new tweaks.

Very good info - thanks for the feedback!
    1) I was wondering if you ever felt any timing pulling/heat soak over the summer...Enough to make you think of on intercooler upgrade
    2) Sorry if I missed it, but is a spark plug re-gap(or upgrade) required?
    3) Have you serviced your car at the dealer yet? Did you remove the harness? Did you get any questions?

Again this is great feedback - I haven't seen many b9.5 261hp with JB4 installed
    Thanks

I’ve got to say this is one of the best mods I could find out there for my 21 SB 45. Ease of install, rapid email replies from George, and the safety of a piggyback make it a no brainer.
Hoping for a TCU tune in the future.
I just unplug the OBD connector when I take it to the dealer, but I leave all the other connections plugged in.

    Bumping thread. I just picked up a 23 a4 45 s line and ordered the BMS group 16 jb4 for it. 💪🏻🏁

Has anyone tried E30-E40 mix yet? Is there any Emix maps yet? Looking forward to contributing to this thread shortly!

Map 4 and 5 are fine to run with the mix.

Awesome! Thank you. To log with the cable on laptop do any cables need to pass through the fire wall into cabin? Looking forward to it! Jeff

Update. Installed JB4 on my 261 mile A4 couple nights ago. Car runs great! What is the main difference between map 4 and map 5? Thanks.
