    21 sq5 MMI screen rattle

Hey all, has anyone experienced really annoying rattles/buzzing noises from the MMI screen and has a fix? When it's sub 80f, my screen makes awful rattles. Goes away completely if I press on the left hand side of the screen but I have no idea how to fix permanently.

Brought it to the dealer once and they confirmed the noise during a cooler morning but I told them it goes away completely when it gets hot out. Of course their tech took out later in the afternoon when it warmed up and he said it was fixed lol.

I put some felt tape on the sides but it didn't help and I'm out of ideas but the noise is super annoying and basically forces me to crank the radio just to not hear it.

Would prefer a simple dyi fix instead of them ripping apart half my dash for something like this. Any ideas?

I can probably upload a vid if anyone is curious.

My 21 SQ5 has a similar if not exactly the same rattle/buzz at < 80f too. I've not been able to identify the exact location, but I will test mine to see if it's the same spot as yours. I had an appointment at the dealer earlier this week to investigate it, but 2 things happened. It was mid 80's out so no buzz or rattle, and they had no loaner car even though it was scheduled. Let's keep in touch for possible solutions!

Will do, i thought it was dash initially cuz the noise is a little deceptive but as soon as I press on the bottom left corner of the MMI screen, noise is gone. Good luck!!

So I tried touching the MMI screen in various spots to see if I could isolate the buzz/rattle, but was unsuccessful. I did not use much force. I think my buzz/rattle is coming from the center dash vents actually, but nothing I touch there makes a difference either. It's most definitely temperature sensitive, a hot day is a buzz/rattle free day! I'm concerned what it's going to sound like in January when it's 20 degrees out.

Mine rattles at the MMI screen as well. I sacrificed and cut a piece off off those square foam knee pad things from costco and put it behind it. It needs to be thick material to keep the MMI from flexing. Rattle gone.

I put a piece of foam padding with adhesive behind the screen at the base. Seems to be working so far. It doesn't look great when looking from the outside but otherwise, it's not noticable.
