Reprogram used key fob for different car?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had a 2012 S4 but unfortunately it was totaled due to front end damage, but I kept a key figuring I might be able to reprogram it in the future. I just recently got a 2015 that only came with one key. Obviously the physical cut key can’t be changed, but can the fob be reprogrammed for my 2015?

Edit: sorry this has been answered already, and the answer no

The dealer cannot reprogram a used fob if it has been set for another vehicle.

Don't know were you are spending 500.(I assume a dealer) Independent lock smiths can do audi fobs. I had a locksmith do a new fob, cut the fob key and reprogram the one existing fob for 280

If you don't mind me asking, where did you go? I can't find anyone local around me to do it except the dealer. I've called all the local locksmiths. I'm in CT, so I may be willing to take a ride.

    Thanks

I had asked the dealer this very same question just over a month ago and they confirmed they can do it and provide me with the cost as well.

    Hi,
I'm new to this. I have a 2014 Q5 and on Sunday I lost my keys, but then found them in the middle of the road, in pieces, run over by about 50 cars. Miraculously, I was able to put it back together and it worked!! It's pretty beat up though. I called Audi and a new key is $775!! I don't have that kind of money just lying around. I kept one of my keys from my old Audi and thought I could just replace the insides...basically, use the old shell from the old key and just transfer the insides of the new key to the old one. But if you know how to re program the old one, that would be fantastic!! Audi said that it can't be done because the old key has the old vin number programmed to it. If you could help me out, I'd be forever grateful.

Call locksmiths in your area. There are some that can program new fobs. I had one do it for 280 including the fob. Apparently you can purchase a new blank fob yourself and might save a little but ask the locksmith.
