    A6 Prestige S-Line - 255/40/20 with 20x9" +32et (replica RS6)

I have read for hours on this site and learned a lot but I have not found if this exact set up will fit. I don't care if the speedometer is off, Michigan roads are terrible and I need as much rubber as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah it is hard to find an exact match with someone else for the million different wheel models out there.
It is a general rule-of-thumb not to exceed ~2-3% diameter difference from stock and you are just barely above that at 3.7% which I think would be fine, but I do not know for certain.

The only thing I'd be worried about would be if the overall diameter increase will bring it too close to the upper control arms.
The example I always give is I moved from a 255/40/21 on my SQ5 to a 265/40/21 which represents a meager 8mm diameter difference (4mm radius) and I would not want them even 1mm closer to the front upper control arms than they already are.
Since you are looking at a 25mm diameter (12mm radius) increase I would be concerned, but I am not sure how much (if any) extra room is in the A6 vs my SQ5.
You could try measuring yourself from the stock setup, but it may be difficult and ultimately easier to see if you can find someone to help you test fit a similarly sized setup as you are looking to get.

I’ve run this set up with Vossens in 20x9, et 32. No fitment issues. Speedometer off by 1 mph.

That's a good look, I really like your wheels. I could go with a 265/35/20 but it really only makes it wider and doesn't increase the sidewall so that doesn't really help. I am coming from a Taurus SHO which had 245/45/20 and I am a little worried that the 265/35/20 is going to be a rough ride and tough on suspension and wheels.

Speaking from experience 265/35/20 is surprisingly better on bad roads than 255/35/20 (yes even just a 4mm change in sidewall height helped) and IMO looks good on a 9" wide wheel too.
Would the 255/40/20 be even better in terms of comfort, for sure...if it fits.

    The factory F/L cars use a 265.

I believe they switched from an 8.5" wheel to a 9" wheel on the F/L cars.

However, I have a set of OE RS7 (which I believe are) 9" wide that have 275's on them.

    On the A6/S6?
    I see a 265/30/21 option on a 9" wide wheel, but not a 20"

The A7/S7/RS7 always got wider wheels and tires because of wider fenders so stock-for-stock you can't compare A6 to A7.

I was worried that a 265/35/20 would look too wide with 9" +32 offset. Yours looks nice, I am not a fan of the stretched look at all. Thanks for your input.

If people are getting 21" wheels on an A6 doesn't that mean that a 255/40/20 will fit without rubbing or at least be close? I guess it would depend on the offset also.

Apologies it is 265/30/21. So a 255/40/20 is still overall 3% larger diameter than that. (20mm or 3/4") The only answer is..."it might fit". Measuring and/or test fitment is the only way to go. Otherwise stick with known good configurations.
Stock 255/35/20 on 8.5" ET45 or 265/35/20 on 20x9 ET35 to ET25 (depending how much you want them to stick out from the fender)

I wanted 255/40/20 for my summers. The guys at discount tire said they tried it on a C7 and it rubbed. They have be willing to help me in the past on other cars, but they were certain. So i didn't try it. You could talk to the shop you intent to use and see if they'll try the size you want. Maybe you will get lucky.

The tire shop is going to test fit a 255/40/20 for me to see if it will rub for certain. It probably will but I will post the results with pictures if possible.

The 265/35/20 fits (with +32 offset on 9" wheel) and is very close to the 255/40/20 based on the comparison calculator.

27.3 to 28" Diameter is the biggest issue

Did you manage to test fit 255/40/20? If yes, do you have photos?
