    NGK PFR7S8EG pre-gapped to .25? Seems odd.

I was surprised to find these pre-gapped to .25. Considering they are just the stock plugs for 2.0.

I am going to have to adjust them to .32. Anyone else have a recent similar experience?

Would seem errant, if authentic. The part number itself directly states it's .8mm gap (.032").

Purchased from ECS. Took out an existing plug (last replaced by dealer), and it was .25. Maybe thats why its been running like butt for a while

Just update. Changed gap, installed. The old plugs looked terrible. Seemed smoother, but not new.

I've gotten my NGK spark plugs from Amazon and FCP Euro. They are never to spec. The last 4 from FCP Euro were at 0.028 even though they're supposed to be at 0.032. The Amazons were even worse. Some larger than 0.032 and some smaller than 0.028.

How are you measuring the gap? Reason I ask is because the coin style feeler gauge I have is .004-.006 lower compared to my digital caliper. I may pick up one of those feeler type guages since they're supposed to be a bit more accurate compared to the coin style.

I used the coin style for the most recent purchase. Don't remember the previous times with Amazon. I don't have access to a digitial caliper so I had no idea the coin style would be off by so much.

I don't like the coin type. I have a Bosch one like this - https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...bos/10853051-P
The nice part is its metric first, with pins for .5mm to 1.2mm and then 1.5mm and 2.0mm and .3mm. Since Audi and Bosch are both going to engineer in metric.
Before that, I used a feeler gauge set such as https://www.amazon.com/Hotop-Blades-...394115-7002812

Oh, and if you need help setting the gap, for the low low price of $99 - https://www.fueltech.net/products/spark-plug-gapper

Well, I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend :)

Any issues with removing and reinstalling the plugs? I don't know if the sacrificial zinc layer would last a second installation.

I don't have any for or against on reinstallation. If I wanted to do a compression test, I certainly wouldn't buy a new set of plugs just because.

What does spark blowout sound or feel like? Could it be a ticking or hesitation under heavy load?

Yes a hesitation can be spark blowout. Basically the power feels choppy like an occasional misfire under load.
If you’re hearing a rattling/ticking type noise that’s probably detonation which can be caused by a number of things. First two things I’d jump to for that issue are too hot of plugs, or clogged injectors. If your car is an oil burner it can cause detonation as well.
