    Leaking front struts

My 2017 audi a4 is in for inspection and the shop tells me the two front struts are leaking and need to be replaced. I have 40,000 miles on the car and my extended warranty won't cover it because it's considered a wear item. 40,000 miles! Really? How common is this and why would they go bad so early?

Can't say why they failed, but I have 66k on mine and the struts are fine.

Do you trust the shop? Does the car feel like it has a problem? That's really poor distance for dampers, but statistics happen.

I trust the shop. I just can't believe they went out so quick. I also can't believe the warranty wouldn't pay for it. What a scam those companies are.

But does the car feel any different?

I got under my used 2019 with under 10k miles and inspected more than probably anyone would. One thing I noticed was cosmoline (thick anti-corrosion shipping grease) was leaking out where it appeared that maybe an axle boot or strut may have let go, but it wasn't. I can certainly see a trustworthy shop making that mistake. Then again, this is the only B9 I've really worked on.

Stockers were Monroe (IBE) and I wouldn't expect a bulk build of them to last more than a common lease, but that's just a hunch.

Are You sure they're leaking, maybe it's only a weapage? If the shock would be leaking You would feel cars handling and comfort worsening.
I had a similar scare at 80k km. Talked to the dealer, had an inspection then, cleaned the shock, and now at inspection at 90k, shock is fine and dry.
See Monroe servicegram explaining the difference between leakage and weepage.Screenshot_20210810-221622.jpg

My car needed these replaced at 40k miles at audi dealership, if you don't trust them, have them show you a picture of the leak but these are known to fail on this platform
