    5F Module Failure

    Hi peeps -

Quick question… I brought my car into the dealer to have them take a look at why the Google Maps overlay wouldn’t work in my MMI. Long story short, after a few weeks of back and forth they finally determined that the 5F module in my car needs to be replaced. The part is on back order for 15 days so I have to wait a bit. My question is, if they replace the module, will that affect my ECU or DSG tunes or compatibility with my COBB AP? I don’t think it would, but was wondering if anyone has run into an issue like this?

I believe it’s the Head Unit for the MMI.

"5F" is the address VCDS has for selecting control modules....(Address 5F: Information Electr.)

morris39 posts a scan from VCDS of channel 5F:

Address 5F: Information Electr. (J794) Labels:* None
    Part No SW: 8V0 035 047 G HW: 8V0 035 047 B

    Part # 8V0 035 047 G is the actual control module....AKA J794

    Which is the head unit...

I've never hear a part being called by the VCDS channel it falls under...

Depends if the dealership is mod friendly...also how much they have to do to the ecu to get the radio/module to work. These are questions you should of asked the service manager...unless you are not wanting them to know your cars tuned...

They’re cool. I told them that my ECU and DSG were previously tuned and they told me that they wouldn’t touch them. I’m waiting for Germany to send the part and will report back when it’s all done.
