S5 sport differential - is it a must have?

I did search so apologies if this is a redundant Q. I currently have an B9 Allroad but am thinking of trading up to an S5 Sportback. Have found a few great options but it seems the Sport Differential is a box not a lot of buyers ticked. How important is this option to the driving experience. Not a car I am likely to heavily mod but will like add a tune at some point.

My car has the sports diff and I love the way it feels in the twistys and cornering. However I haven't driven w/o it so I may be full of it and not having one may be just as planted. However the sports diff comes with other goodies

If you're tracking your car and like to floor it during cornering or drive spirited regularly I would say it's 100%. If your car is your commuter, then it's not necessary but still, I don't see the value in saving the equivalent of like 20 bucks per month if you're financing and pennies if you're leasing to not have the option.

Even when I purchase used, I want as many options as possible including everything driver and race oriented.

But you can definitely feel the difference between the two when driving but maybe it's just me. I wouldn't buy a car without it.

The whole sport package is worth it with the sport diff, adaptive suspension and painted brake calipers is fully worth it. If you have to buy the sport diff on its own, tougher call. I see youre in Canada, not sure if they have the packaged option like they do here in the US.

I am looking at trading in my 17 Allroad on a used S5 Sportback and am searching used. It seems in Canada many of the cars have the sport package but not the Sport Diff so it has been a hard search to find the right car.

Unfortunately in Canada, we didn't get the US "Sport Package" that lumped in the sport diff, adaptive suspension, and red calipers. So it's MUCH more difficult to find one with each option selected (when I had my S5 Sportback I had to order from the factory because I wanted all of those options).

I really like my sport differential. I can't imagine driving the car without it. But I've also come to realize that a lot of people buy S4's and never drive them sporty. That's why a whole bunch of them are built without it. If you enjoy going around corners at high speed I strongly encourage you to shop for the sport differential.

I have the sport differential but to be honest I'm not sure what I'm looking to feel. I go the fastest around on-ramps and really try to push the car - is there a way to describe what I should be feeling with the sport diff, or would you only really be able to tell comparatively by driving a non sport diff model?

I am hoping to find out soon with a test drive of both. The stock handling on my Allroad doesn't feel great to me and once I looked at upgrading suspension springs and roll bars I just got to thinking I need a sportier car in stock mode vs. modifying.

Having owned an allroad I can say that the S4 suspension will be tuned very differently.

Good to know. That was my assumption and why I was also looking for the dynamic suspension option. Rather not lower a car for better handling which I feel is needed on the Allroad.

The sports diff uses torque vectoring to send more power to the outside rear wheel during cornering. This helps you"turn" and reduces understeer.
