    C8 A6 VCDS/OBD11 Mods

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Couldn't find anything on this forum, so here are a list of confirmed to be working mods via VCDS or OBD11 long-coding/one-click-apps.

I'll update as I continue to test.

Confirmed on 2021 C8 A6 (Premium Plus w/o HD Matrix)

Gear Display: D off/S on works, however when I tried D on/S on it did not work for me.

Seat Heating Balancing: Works as intended, car must be equipped with existing functionality.

Seat Ventilation Balancing: Works as intended, car must be equipped with existing functionality.

Air Recirculation Memory: Works as intended.

Seat Belt Warning: Works as intended.

    Needle Sweep: Works as intended.

Comfort Turn Signal: Works as intended.

    -----

Some notable apps that did NOT work are the RS taillight animation. In order to get it to work, you need to have a car equipped with HD Matrix lighting. Another one that bricked the MMI was the screen startup logo. Set it to Audi Sport and it bricked.

    -----

Nice! Thanks for the list. I've done many of these myself following this post/thread over on the OBDEleven C8 forum. This thread is specific to unblocking while driving.

This has been solved! I installed a memory switch and now the car remembers the state the ASS was in on shut down/restart. I have it disabled and every time I start the car, the ASS is off. Check out post #10 in my build thread for a link to the switch and install description. I know of at least one other C8 owner, an RS6, that installed the same item. Neither of us has any codes, etc. Works perfectly. I couldn’t be happier.

Yes, I have seen your thread about installing the device, but I was hoping to just use software to disable it...

Ah, that makes sense. it would seem on the C8 there isn't a software/coding fix outside of the one where the AC is on constantly. I didn't like that solution, hence the switch route.

I need to find some time but I’m interested if we can change the height for the “Raise” feature only for RS6s with air suspension. I know the height can be adjusted but curious if just that feature can be coded.

Unfortunately, it's not possible unless the HD Matrix is retrofitted.

Isn't HD matrix just the head lights? For a 2022 aren't the tails the same for Prestige and PP?

I thought that too, but apparently it's somehow connected. I've tried using a one-click app via OBD11 and I even long-coded it. Nothing.

If you figure it out, let me know, because I'd love to have it set up without doing a headlight and wiring swap.

There it is. Would've been cheaper to spec the car with them.

Think that's generally the case when trying to update/add things after buying the car. When spec'ing a new car there is a "benefit" in that one gets a monetary "credit" when going from one option to another that you don't get when doing it aftermarket. Probably didn't write that terribly clearly. This fact hit me right in the face when I priced out what it would take to convert from Blackline to Carbon option. Yikes! $~14k or so priced through both Europrice and various OEM parts sellers....and yet the ole wheels are turning. There are few options the car I found and bought that are missing compared to the car I'd ordered: Carbon trim, upgraded B & O System, Gray RS Design Pkg. I've posted elsewhere that I wish I'd sought out a car with the upgraded seats. The sales manager at the dealership had called and talked me out of going with the comfort seats. I went along with his recommendations, and when I started searching for a car on a lot, I specifically eliminated cars with comfort seats. He'd told me that the flat bottomed steering wheel only came with the "regular", diamond stitched seats. However, the standard seats don't have passenger side memory, something that confounds me on a $117k and up luxury vehicle. Our 2019 RS5 with std seats has passenger side memory as well as added adjustability (thigh and back side bolsters) and massage feature! How does the RS6 not as well? Caught me by surprise. Also, the seat upgrade has power thigh support. The s seats are manual. Finally, the upgraded seats have greater heat/cooling area.

I'll say this, its a lot easier, and cheaper, to add a flat bottom steering wheel, that it is to add comfort seats. I'll admit I miss the feelings of luxury I got every time I sat in our '21 Allroad with upgraded seats. There was a clear distinction between lwsaWish I'd thought to ask more questions...

Interesting you say this, and I agree. This is one of the reasons I went with the A6 over an S/RS5. I just really loved the the fact that I get all of the creature comforts and a updated infotainment/tech features. Are those cars funner to drive than the A6? Sure, by miles.

It's a double-edged sword. So I've come to the conclusion that my ideal Audi would be an S6 or S7.

I can promise you those cars are still more fun to drive the S6 or the S7. I've had both an S4 and S6. S4 was way easier to whip around, more mods avaialble too. The S6 is a good sweet spot of power and comfort, waaaaaay more comfortable, less fatiguing to drive than the S4. Tech is better obviously as well. The issue with the S6 is it's just shy of the power it needs/deserves.

100%, I bought a B9 S5 last week to flip and drove it for a bit. Fun little car no doubt. But coming from Evo's in my younger days and as I get older I find myself leaning more towards 'luxury sports sedans' rather than nimble compacts.

Same! I love my S6 regardless of it not being as quick and exhilarating, I too am getting older and just want to relax but still be sexy 🤣. It's ridiculously comfortable and still fun to drive. If Uni or APR cracks the ECU all the better, Im on it.

APR intake goes in tomorrow, can't wait for that. Hoping I don't sound like a kid with a Civic and fart cans. Cabin in the S6 is so quiet I doubt it will be an issue.

Nice! I've been waiting for the APR RS6 intake. There are other options out there that look better, see Eventuri, but APR is the only one that submits for California emissions (CARB) approval. I don't want to have to swap in the OEM intake when emissions testing is due. If the install difficulty of the APR RS6 intake is anything like the APR B9 RS5 intake, then, yeah, definitely don't want to be swapping back and forth. Which reminds me, time go see if CARB has approved the APR RS5 intake yet.

Not sure what I did wrong but for some reason my Adaptive lights say they are malfunctioning, and now my DRL AND regular lights are on at the same time, not just my DRL during daytime. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. 2021 S6.

went to a local shop today experienced with the VCDS tool and they weren't able to lower my 2022 S6 on Air. Audi Apparently changed some things in the menu and he couldn't access the menu needed to lower it without spending at least a day on it. No thanks.

Just got my OBD11 a couple weeks ago, have made several changes, works great. But to OP, yes, I tried gear display D on/S on as well, only displays gear in S mode. This worked on my A5 Sportback, maybe just not on the A6?

Yeah it's strange why it won't work on D on the A6. I revisited it again last week to be sure and it still won't display the gear in D.

Yeah, I don't get it. The car has a DSG so no reason as to why it shouldn't work.

I can try long-coding it. Maybe the one-click app is coded incorrectly?

-Can anyone explain what "balanced seat heating" is when enabled?

-Anyone know how to enable the *drivers* mirror tilt when car is in reverse rather the passengers mirror? Even selecting drivers with the mirror switch it will not do this.

-Lastly, anyone know how to adjust the time when locking the vehicle and the headlights and taillights shutting off at night? I see in videos online that they immediately shut off when locked however my new 2023 S6 Prestige (US) has them staying on for 30 seconds before they do the animation and shut off after I walk away.

Hey, just wondering if a new vcds cable is required. I have one from 10 years ago, will it still work? Have an a6 allroad coming in one month and have been dabbling in Porsche, coming back to Audi.
This is the cable I have. https://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/ol...rfaces/huc.php
Are there any differences between this old one and the new V2 version? Other than limiting the number of vehicles you can use it on by VIN?

    You’ll need a newer cable.

Big props for sharing this Alex M! I used a few of these on my A6 Prestige. However, when trying to do the RS taillight animation, instead of a checkbox, my bit 4 shows this:

I can only see one pic. The other link is broken.
Just an FYI, the tailight animation will not work without the specialty rear tail light housings. Unless something has changed someone let me know...

Where it shows 0F at the top, you have to change that to 1F. I couldn't figure that part out, so I got some assistance on the Ross Tech forum.

Correct. Only the prestige headlights and taillights can have the RS animation enabled unfortunately.

I still could not get this to work using OBDEleven. Shawn at Everything Euro in Winston Salem, NC, got it to work using Carista. Now I have it in the display. Carista seems to have better coding change ability, but will not work with the OBDEleven dongle, you have to get a different one.

Can confirm, could not get this to work with OBD11 (NB: One click app did not try through long coding) but got it to work with Carista in both D/S

The C7 platform has like a bible of available mods....is this gen just more locked down or has no one put in the time to figure out what else we can do?
