Does anybody think this IE tune is going to compare to custom tunes from people like melen?

Have you tried any other TCU tunes? I have only used EPL and JHM, and the EPL is very docile compared to JHM, which is to say I like the JHM one better. It will be interesting to see how good the IE tune is.

I wish there was a more economical way to try tunes, like purchase for a trial period or something. I have EPL and while I'm happy with it, I'm certainly curious about other options. If there are some good black friday deals on JHM, IE or 034 motorsports I'll likely try something else to compare.

Both the JHM TCU and Stage 2 are superior to the EPL tunes. Thing is, I am now stuck with an EPL tune since I bought it used. There is a reason people are selling their $1500 EPL tunes for $650 in the classifieds not long after getting them. The Berk/Melen TCU tunes may very well be the best, but I wouldn't know, and probably won't pay to find out. But I am with you, you could very well go through thousands of dollars worth of tunes finding one you like. Sometimes I wish life was simpler, like in the diesel truck world. I bought a diablosport tuner for $250 used, and used it for 8 years, and upon selling my truck, I unflashed the tune and sold it for exactly the same thing. Plus, you could do custom tunes in it, change rev limits, speed limits, disable certain vehicle systems, so on and so forth. As far as I know, none of the tunes offer this flexibility. I have been spoiled by diesel trucks and megasquirts. I probably need to learn HPTuners, I still sell a OTS megasquirt tune from time to time.

I have tried Boostedeuro TCU in the past, currently run Berks, will try IEs final ZF8 file after I'm done with the ecu side of things and give my impressions. Just knowing the differences in general between custom files and OTS files, most will be happy with IE if they aren't the type to log, but if you are a custom tune might be more for you.

I learned that 034 offered their own beta tcu tune in early March and jumped on it at a price of $250 plus $135 for the cable (I think the cable itself was on sale). Car shifts and holds gears like it is supposed to. So happy with the tcu tune that I went ahead and bought their ecu tune less than two weeks later.

Contact 034 to see if they still offer their beta tcu tune at a special price.

The TCU tune you are referencing is for the AL552 not the AL551 that is found in the C7 A6. One of the motivating factors for us refining the AL551 tune for years was our purchase of a B9 S4 with the AL552 which drove like a completely different animal; and honestly with just raised torque limits that next generation of transmission drives extremely nice, of course there is always of room for improvement and we already have a pretty well sorted AL552 tune in the works.

Hey guys silly question and my apologies for asking but I have APR stage 2 dual pulleys, can i just buy the tranny tcu tune and not have it mess with the APR tune. Basically asking if we can mix and match tunes?? Shifting is horrible unless your in sport mode mashing the throttle. Pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

will your tune remove the traction control completely like custom tranny tunes? a6/a7 have it where even if you take traction control off it will still try to engage if you are slipping, its annoying in the snow when you wanna punch it or even drift and the car wont go over 10mph because its tryna grab

For the IE tune...Is this only limited to the 3.0t Q5 or can 2.0tfsi Q5 owners flash it also? Especially if one has a K04 turbo installed.

To me the benefit of berk or melen is that if there is something you'd like to adjust to fit your specific desires, either of them can do that. Berk even mentioned to me that some people have multiple files, super aggressive for the drag strip, etc. and more "normal" ones for every day driving duties. That said, I too am interested in hearing what jrubio has to say

Only got 10 minutes to mess with the Street file before my belt decided to exit the chat during a launch. It's really nice for an OTS option. Shifts pretty quick, nice drivability. However shifts aren't quite as fast as a fleshed out HP file, and I dont like how it kicks down pretty easily in M. Good think about IE is I'm sure they'll keep tweaking it every now and then as they get feedback. If you already have an IE PowerLink Cable but don't wanna buy an HP cable, I'd say go for it!

Btw too much pressure is a bad thing. Puts more stress on clutches and heats oil up.

Can I use someone else’s flash cable to do tcu tune on my car? I’m I forced to buy my own cable? I don’t mind but if I can save 150 for a one time use then why not borrow one. I guess for updates and so forth, but do they update it often? Can I just buy a used flash cable or is it proprietary to a specific vin. Just wondering, thanks everyone you guys are always very informative.

I put in the IE trans tune for my 2017 A7 Comp. I haven't taken in to the track to see how much it dropped my 1/4 mile time but I eventually will (when there is a cool night with low humidity). All I really wanted to get out of the tune was a raised RPM limit to 7200 as I was shifting into 5th at the end of the 1/4 mile. My first impression was meh, but I'm sure it took a little time to adjust. After the "adjustment" period, it seemed to just make the tranny more refined and just better overall. From quicker paddle shifting to just cleaning up the slop. But then, I launched the car in aggressive mode which is 3000 rpm. With that combination along with the 7200 limit, I was very impressed. Minor wheel spin and very firm shifts were spot on. I'll let you all know when I hit the track (Summit Motorsports Speedway in Ohio) again so I can post some times. Before the tune, I hit a 12.4 at 112 mph.

Just wondering, thanks everyone you guys are always very informative.
Yes a used cable or a buddies cable will work great

Anybody here using the IE TCU tune that has experience with JHM? I have APR stage 1 currently with no trans tune and trying to decide which route to go... get the IE and continue on with APR stage 2 DP or get JHM and do their 207mm pulley swap.

i have the jhm 207mm crank pulley and stock S/C pulley, on IE stage 2 dual pulley tune an love it! and going to be running bg.sq5 tranny tune, if i didn't spend the 600 already with him i would have probably tried out IE's tranny tune, but bg.sq5 tune is a lot more tunable and intricate
