Factory 2018 S5 Glass Tint VLT?

Hi, I'm reading conflicting information on the interwebs and searching this forum so figured I would ask again from those that have the actual car and can physically look at the glass. What is the factory tint (if any) VLT on the 2018 S5 Sportbacks front/rear if any different? I just looked at my BMW and the glass specifically says 70% VLT MIN in the corner. What is it on these S5's? If it't not tinted from the factory (which newer cars seem to be) that would be good, if it's already at 70% - not so good :/

Reason I ask is the car I'm looking at I would really like to have tinted darker but NY law doesn't allow less than 70% VLT which sucks.

    Thx

I would say measure it if you wanted to really be sure. The 70% min transmission is the regulation and the glass standard. But how much is the specific piece of glass on your car? You'd have to test.

Yeah i plan on doing that... I don't have the car yet - planning ahead. I'm curious though, is both the front and rear windows stamped with 70% VLT on the glass or only the rear and hatch for Audi in 2018?

I don't know the exact VLT rating of the glass, but as a point of reference, my 18 SQ5 with AirBlue 80 on the front windows registers 70% on a tint meter. A family member's A5 with the same tint all around registers 68%.

If you're looking for a darker tint and hoping to pass the inspection in NY, I think you may be in for disappointment.

You're better off leaving it alone or finding a shop to pass you and go as dark as you want.

    Hope this helps.
