Laser and Matrix are two different things. I believe that laser lights (the death ray dash icon) are enabled from the factory. Laser lights cannot be “aimed”. Matrix lights are the projector made up of an LED array that only aims light where other vehicles are not located.

My second key is available but when scheduling the service the dealer also mentioned a software update. Hope this doesn’t wipe out my matrix lights. I know Sam will reinstall but hoping to avoid that.

I sold the RS6 and got the 2022 S8 with digital matrix headlight.
The Matrix function is still off... Dealer doesn't know anything about it... Sad

I asked Sam to activate the digital matrix but he said the car is too new for now. Will keep everyone here posted.

Got my matrix headlights enabled by Sam yesterday. Despite that, I wasn't expecting them to come on while just driving around the city, but I guess it was dark enough and I was driving fast enough, because I suddenly noticed everything get brighter except around the oncoming cars and cars in front of me. Amazing to see the technology work as I turned corners, met traffic, passed other cars, etc.

When I picked the car up, my ABS said that he had the codes to enable them, but Audi wouldn't allow him to do so yet. So I imagine this feature is coming for everyone soon...

I also had Sam activate the blue laser, maneuver assist, and maneuver lights. He was also able to code the car to allow me to lock it if the engine is running and the keys are outside the car.

Sam was great to work with and very responsive. Thanks to everyone on this thread for sharing his information and available services. I think they are worth the price he charged. My only tip is not to park your car in the direct sun while he works his magic...the car and a/c need to stay off while he's coding everything!

Got this back from MTM Customer Service when I asked them about this:

In total, there has only been a few that ironically “blew” while on our tune. All situations of those vehicles involved incorrect fuel (E85) or the factory warranty defect of a cracking cylinder block. I looked over the information on all of these vehicles and verified they were not due to tuning but a dealership of course will not own up to that.

A good example of the factory problems from these cars, a customer that bought his car and was going to go Stage 4 with us didn’t even have the chance to bring his vehicle to us. I’m only two days of owning this brand new RS6, his engine “blew”. Nothing aftermarket was even on the vehicle.

I’ve had a couple of those people admit they did an insurance claim. One or two paid for new engines.

That’s a joke of a response from MTM. Fact is, of all known RS6 engines that were blown and running a tune….all had MTM tunes.

Additionally there was a recent comparison from someone running MTM stage 4 (which claims 1000hp) that was outperformed via Dragy comparisons with someone running stage 1 tune from a competitor (APR or Unitronic).

MTM isn’t the brand to go with for this 4.0TT motor. If you do, clearly you’re not doing your homework.

The difference is a custom tune vs their canned. Not everyone can custom tune a car. I went through weeks with my tuner for previous setups. If MTM, not the company using their name here in the states but the actual MTM who have been doing this how long, have done good work with their base tune maybe it’s just the local company using the name that’s the issue. This is why I’ve asked a few different people if anyone has popped with their piggyback. So far the only people that I’ve spoken to personally have said they were stage 2+ with “custom” tunes. Again does this fall back to the Florida based company using MTM’s name and reselling their parts or is this a bigger issue with a company that’s been doing this for years just putting out all bad tunes. So far without knowing more it sounds to me like a company that resells parts trying to custom tune but I could be wrong.

Edited…just checked out mtm Germany and looks like they offer canned tunes for the upper stages. Maybe all of their tunes are bad. I’d still like to know if anyone here has popped with their piggyback.

You have other options here for a tune - APR, Unitronic. Stay away from MTM - purely based on history at this point and other customer interactions.

I reached out to TAG today for the APR...thinking that might be what I go with. Now to get a refund from MTM...someone posted before that wasn't easy and they had to have AMEX cancel the transaction. I used AMEX for that one so I hope I don't have to do that as well...

Once the Matrix lights are enabled, they takeover the Auto High beams feature. So if you do not want the Matrix lights to turn on, just drive at night with the Auto High beams switched off.

In my opinion, however, the lights are not obtrusive and I would just leave the auto high beams on all the time anyways.

Sorry to keep derailing this thread, but I mean they are exactly that, a dealer. I never said they are a “fake dealer”. As I stated, they are not owned or operated by Motoren-Technik-Mayer GmbH (the German Entity or “MTM Germany”). MTM-USA is an independent third-party from MTM Germany. Please show me where I have presented false information and you post disproves this false information? By claiming what I stated is false you are implying that MTM-USA is owned and/or operated by MTM Germany and I have seen no evidence of this. Please feel free to PM me so we don’t further take this thread on a tangent.

On another note I have been trying to get a refund of CETE suspension module (ordered in December or January) that never shipped from MTM-USA for nearly a month now with no luck. I am about at the point of calling AmEx and getting them to reverse the charge.
