    Alternator W-Terminal

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the late 3.2 FSI V6 CALA uses a W-Terminal on the alternator for parcial engine speed?

    Assisting rpm?

Wiring diagram shows no connection to W or A2. Only output wire on B+ and LIN bus control on A1.
There's no need for the W output on the car; it already has an engine speed sensor.

    The reason I asked...

I've done the most insane think you will ever come across in your life...

My CALA motor ceased just outside of motor plan...

It still brand new and I couldn't get it over my heart to scrap the car. No CALA motors available at that time...

So I swapped a Chevy LS1 to the 6HP28 Quattro Transmission.

All is good and working accept the tackometer.
    It just shivers...

Now the transmission won't shift correctly because the engine speed on the canbus is not correct...

We transfered the V6 trigger and sensor to the V8 non of the other sensors are used...

    What do I do???

    See Youtube Video of tackometer

I know; we've talked on the issue before in one of the subforums, I forget which.

What does data logging show for an engine speed value at a high sampling rate? Is the value reported in fact bouncing around as it appears, or maybe it's bouncing between a value and no value? What is actually at address 01 on the CAN bus now? The LS ECU, the CALA ECU, or some interface device? I would say follow the line. Log the engine speed as reported by the instrument cluster. If it's unstable, then move to where the instrument cluster gets the value from, the ECM (or whatever is at address 01 now). If logging that shows the value to be unstable, then you have to look at where that device gets its value from, ....

You might also hit up the OP here, https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...-Retaining-AWD, and see if he might have any relevant insight. It's a bit different as the ECM in B7 is not UDS, but worth dropping a line.
