    AUDI S5 B9 MANUAL in S MODE

So I've seen some YT videos of people going to manual from S and the gears would show S1, S2, S3, S4...etc...
When I shift from S to manual, goes back to M1, M2, M3..... and the valves close up.

Is OBD 11 the only way to enable manual in S mode? It'd be perfect. Manual S mode

Got back my car from the shop. XPEL STEALTH + CERAMIC COATING + XPEL CERAMIC TINTS + BLACKED OUT ROOF.

There is no manual s mode. The coding in obd11 just shows the gear you’re in while in S transmission. You can also use other tools like VCDS to enable this, but obd11 is the easiest.

When Im in S automatic mode, the exhaust is louder than going to manual. Is it just me or does the valves close when you go from S to manual?

Yeah in S the valves are opened and it idles at a higher rpm. I also experienced the same where in D or M at idle the valves are closed and idle is lower.

I don’t believe so. From my experience, S has its own programming to open the valve at idle, while the other modes seem to open while driving when needed. You could get a valve controller like CETE to have manual control over the valves.

Just wish to clarify. Are you switching into Manual mode by moving the shifter over to Manual, or by using the paddle shifter to switch in to manual mode? I am not sure it will make a difference with the exhaust, but I seem to think I saw an MS1. If so, this would indicate it was both in manual and sport. Maybe it is different with the RS5 or maybe I am just not remembering correctly??

In my experience, if you are in S and shift to M, it is S in manual mode. However, it doesn’t show M1S. If you let it idle, you can see that rpms are still higher like when you are in S automatic.

There is a mod you can do with Vagcom or OBD11 to have it display the gear next to the mode, either D1, D2, D3 or S1, S2, S3... or M1,M2,M3..

Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
    [02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu
