I bit the bullet and went with IE Stage II ECU with Uni TCU for the peace of mind since it makes the most sense. Why tune and max out the HP and Torque with the ECU and keep your transmission stock? You're basically putting more strain on the transmission on every pull, with every shift. My tuner says that they regularly have people mix up ECU/TCU since they are independent systems. Overall, I've had it on for about 5000km (3000 miles roughly) and it's been amazing. The gears hold longer, shifts faster and when it does shifts, I don't feel any of the jerkiness as when I was on IE Stage I with no TCU. It definitely is worth it to get and I'm always open for 034 or IE TCU if they come out with something better, but for the time being, mixing ECU/TCU is not a problem. Don't knock it unless you try it.
