    "best" rotor choice help?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I would like to replace my front rotors and can't seem to determine what is a good choice. '07 A4 Avant with v6, not particularly spirited driving. Buying the Audi rotors at 3X$ other brands seems hard to justify. Brembo, Myle etc all are reputable and created equal? Part of the reason I ask is that a set of (FCP I think) rotors failed to ever really develop good smooth operation and now are pretty awful. It's possible I did not properly remove the coating at installation. Anyway, kind gun shy so ask here. Did a search and couldn't find anything like a FAQ

Bosch is a safe bet for rotors, not too much and they've worked perfect in my experience.

Zimmerman is a good cost effective brand for stock replacement rotors.

I just replaced all 4 corners with Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads. They work great and very little dust.

I tried Meyle for my other car and they were fantastic. Where do you find Meyle rotors? FCP Euro stopped carrying them for my other car.

Has anybody ever tried Coleman Racing? I’ve been sniffing around their website for some replacement rings.

OP, be sure to do the full bed-in procedure when you replace your rotors. You may already know this, but it makes a very disconcerting grinding noise.

Ive run Zimmerman in the past, and its a quality option.

Many people love basic Centric rotors, and they are also a budget friendly yet quality option. I have used StopTech on the Audi's over the last few years. StopTech is Centric's performance line and if you shop around for really great deals.

    I have a ST40 BBK setup on the B7, and rotors/sport pads/SS lines on the S3.

I use the Raybestos brand coated both front an back with the element3 pads. Also for more stopping power you can do a fluid flush and refill

Brake Performance has been a good brand to me, their Drilled/Slotted rotors kit is affordable and decent. My only complaint is their ceremic pad options (they suck) when you buy a kit from them. I also had my front rotors warp but that was probably because my front struts were blown, it was bound to cause an issue.

    For which hats?

I was going to send in my ECS hats to get new rings built. I would assume they’re similar to most oval track rotors anyway.

I also need to have them make a custom set of rear rings for my 330mm Brembo caliper upgrade.

If you’ve got the same 18z setup, we might be able to get a group buy going.

I’ve got the two-piece Brembo 4-piston GT version front and rear. 355x32 fronts, 345x28 rears. I need new rings for the fronts, exploring some options.

My Q7 might have the 18z, I’ll have to check. I’m down for a group buy.
