    2018 vs 2019 Q7 - what are the options??

    Good morning, all.

I am not yet an Audi owner, but hope to be in the next week or two, and am hoping to garner your help! I did try searching but did not find exactly what I am looking for.

I am looking at the Audi Q7, considering both the 2018 and 2019 premium plus trims. But I am terribly confused regarding all of the options - what comes standard and what are in the optional packages with these! Obviously, comparing used vehicles, they will not be apples to oranges, but I want to make an informed decision to find the Q7 that has the options most relevant to me for, of course, the best price.

For example, is the premium plus package the same thing as the premium plus trim (that is - does everything in the premium plus package come standard with the premium plus trim)? And when I see the Q7 available at non-Audi dealerships, they often do not list/know the packages it seems, so mention some features, so if I see that a car has the lane departure feature, should I assume that that means it has the driver assistance package? Or can these cars have standalone features like lane departure, so it would be wrong to make that assumption?

If any of you are able to comment on 2018 vs 2019 or how to find what comes standard and what comes in the packages for these models, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

Help us understand maybe a bit more of what you are looking for in a car, how long you intend to keep it and what kind of performance you would like? Also what country are you in as these options are a little different depending.

Example, I picked a Q7 2015 TDI, because it had the bang and Olufsen stereo package and clarity of sound is important, I also picked it for the adaptive cruise control so it brakes in an emergency and is adaptive on the freeway. It DID NOT have air suspension or the S line suspension. It's a long haul driver for the family that is comfortable. I put a Malone stage two tune on it for when the kids are not in the car, RSNav for Android auto /apple car play (one of the first beta testers this month) and it updates my old display into a touchscreen. Ventelated and heated seats, but looking to swap Audi A8 massage seats (called comfort seats) in so that I have everything I want in a family wagon. Touch less locking and unlocking is important and push button start, I like keeping the key in my pocket. No sparkplug to change, no could pack ignition issues, just change the air filter, brakes and tires along with the fuel filter and she keeps going. My plan is to wait for a solid state battery seven passenger vehicle to come along in 3-5 years. Meanwhile while I am enjoying this Q7 I've taken the money I've saved and put cash on a solar kit for the house. For the next 20 years or so, seems I've squashed my complete electric bill.

Trying to figure out the differences between packages may not help define what you actually want out of a car. Define what you want and then see what package that falls under.

Thanks, wtfmuller, for the response and helpful thoughts. These are good questions. Part of the problem is that I am not certain I even understand what options there are.

    I'm in the USA.

I would like navigation and Bose/B&O. I assumed (perhaps incorrectly?) that Premium Plus trim would offer Bose and Prestige B&O. I am fine with Bose probably. Should I assume the premium plus package is standard on premium plus trim models?

I would like leather (not leatheretee) seats. Is that standard?

I would like four-zone climate control. Window shades would be nice. I would like heated seats and wheel, and ventilated would be nice.

My friend tells me I need adaptive cruise control and lane assist. I'm not sure, but it would be nice if it came with it. Same goes for the virtual cockpit. If it came with it, great.

Basically, I am using this car to drive up and down the state of California, many times taking my elderly mom and a lot of gear, and a big dog in the back. I like roadtrips, particularly mountainous, so will use it for that.

In looking for a car, safety is very important to me. While all of the driver's assistance gadgets sound cool, and I like technology, I am not in need of every last new thing.

I really (really!) would like a CD player in the SUV. Do I understand correctly the 2019 no longer has it? Can it easily be installed in the 2019?

    Thank you!

I can't answer any of these questions, but you can find both the 2018 and 2019 brochures on the web. Also, Edmunds does a good job describing the options and packages.
Also, if you want to know exactly what options are on a car that you're looking at, you can get the original window sticker from withclutch.com. All you need is the VIN.

Bose is standard on Prem+ and Prestige, B&O optional. Pretty sure it'safe to assume premium plus trim and package are one and the same

Seats are standard with leather seating surfaces. If you get the Luxury Package, the seats are massaging and extended leather(not really sure what that means but probably the sides are leather as well as the seating surface)

4-zone and sun shades requires warm weather package - opt on Plus and standard on Prestige

heated steering wheel requires Cold weather, opt on both

Adaptive Cruise and lane assist come together and requires Driver assistance package, opt on Plus and standard on Prestige. This one is worth it IMO

Not sure on the CD player

Thanks for the responses. They were very helpful for my research purposes. I just bought the 2018 Q7 Prestige Plus with the warm weather package (mostly for the dog!) and looking forward to being an Audi owner.
