Received a letter today from Audi Canada extending the warranty on the subject to 10 years from in-service date or 200,000km (whichever comes first).

    The warranty extension is for certain 2011-2016 A4, A4 Allroad, A5, S5, RS5, Q5, SQ5, A6, S6, A7, RS7, A8 and S8. No mention of S7.

I also received this from Audi of America a few days ago. Warranty extension is for 10 years or 120,000 miles. What are the symptoms of this failure?

I lost power steering so at least in my case it was pretty obvious. I remember reading at the time that the seals for the power steering control module are known to give up and let moisture inside. The control module is built-in the steering rack and is only available from Audi as a whole unit.

Maybe good idea to check fault codes from steering assist from time to time.

Nothing in the mail for me yet. I've always thought my steering has been a bit off, but it could just me. Had it realigned and told is was all within spec. Next time I plug in my VagCom I'll check my fault codes.

Yep I received this in the mail as well. Sometimes at low speed I can sort of feel the wheel catching when exiting a tight turn but always wrote it off as being the quattro system or something else. It could be totally natural or not - we will find out over time I guess.

It is practically every Audi model for the past decade.
I received 2. One for the S6 and one for the SQ5.
Mine does not indicate S7 either but as there is no practical steering difference between the A7 RS7 and S7 I suspect it is typical Audi bad documentation and or typos.
We will probably get a revised one in the mail inclusive of S7 wasting time and money that Audi will roll into the next price increase.
If I had an S7 and was concerned I'd call 1-800-822-2834 and advise them the S7 is not listed.
Perhaps someone with an S7 will post whether or not they actually received the letter.

Make sure you read the letter!!! Mine states that the Audi tech who checks the unit will advise Audi what the codes are... Then Audi will determine if the "correct code" is activating the warranty extension. So, NOT ALL FAILURES will be covered... typical nonsense... You would think Audi would just issue a service recall.. but still waiting on that for the "blown turbos"...

Yeah makes perfect sense to recall every Audi for the past decade if only "some" have the possibility of failure in a very specific way....that won't cause any financial burden that will either result in bankruptcy, cost cutting, price raising or any combination of those things....oh wait Dieselgate already took care of that.
It is the same with the turbos, sure here the vocal minority on the forums it is bad, but in reality there have only been 53 complaints about turbo problems to the NHTSA compared to the tens of thousands of 4.0T's out there. Heck, by those stats not even every member on this one forum who has indicated they have had a failure has reported to the NHTSA. The numbers just don't support a forced recall no matter how much we would like them to or even if both we and they KNOW what causes the failure already. Rolling the dice to not recall Audi still wins as people go out of warranty before failure (myself) or get repaired under factory or extended warranty per the TSB and the issue is never reported. Plus as dangerous as it may be to stall out somewhere due to blown turbos it does not carry as much weight to those who force a recall as cars catching fire, flipping over, or exploding shrapnel at you.

I can confirm I received the letter for my S7.

“This notice applied to your vehicle: 2015 Audi S7, (VIN #)”

Then below that it lists the vehicles this applies to, but the S7 isn’t listed. I don’t think it’s a big deal that it is not listed.
