EBC Yellow Stuff Pads - God Damn Good

    Hey Everyone,

Just throwing out my $0.02 on brake pads. I've tried a bunch of them from Dutalast to Hawk to Akebono to OEM and for my driving style EBC is hands down my favorite. I'm currently running 18z Calipers with 17z pads up front and OEM rear calipers. EBC Yellowstuff on all four corners and my brakes have never felt better! The yellowstuff pads have never squeaked for me but they do pump out the brake dust. Not a problem for me as i run dark grey wheels. Long runs on fast twisty roads? No issue, no fade. I have never tracked these, so i can't speak to them in that use, but for hard street use in a stage 3 car, they are perfection IMO.

If anyone is every looking to try some bad ass brake pads, i highly recommend you give these things a go.

Im currently running Hawk pads on my Stoptech setup in the front and after they get hot (20 minutes of driving or so) they squeal like crazy. I really hate it, makes it sound like im driving a jalopy. I ran through the bed in procedure when I installed the rotors\calipers\pads exactly as outlined by stoptech. Has anyone experienced this? I might have to try these yellow pads to see if they fix my issue because i dont know what else i can do at this point and these sound like they would be a decent replacement.

I’m running the yellow stuff on the front with stock calipers and ECS rotors. I’m very happy with them but they did squeak for a while when i first installed them.

This might be snake oil, but i always apply CRC Disc Brake Quiet. Apply, wait 10-15 minutes for it to tack up, then install.

Front: Apply a small amount to the face of each caliper piston
Rear: Apply a small amount to the shim (between the pads and shim) then a small amount on the caliper and lastly to the face of the caliper piston.

    friction coefficient vs temperature graphs.

These are similar to many very entry level track pads or performance street pads. Most people on here have never even faded 600deg farenheit pads so this isn't going to do anything but bring out a bunch of too much dust/noise reviews... but those things are pretty trash as an actual track pad, like maybe 3 minutes of advanced racing.

For perspective, I use significantly stronger track pads on my miata for just street use (orange stuff front blue stuff rear, equivalent). And I haven't used anything like this on the S4 since like 2004, when I faded every performance street pad on the market in a couple minutes. til I figured out you need actual high end track pads if you're doing any serious driving above the novice level. There are far better options.

This might be suitable as a rear pad, or for strictly street use with people doing pulls. I would never track something like that on the front, you're just begging to fly off the track by lap 3.

Thanks for the good info James. These then seem like a perfect set of pads for my use case which would explain why i enjoy them.

I ended up pussying out and replacing my pads with HPS... but i was on the verge of trying the yellows... I might just grab a set, not like its hard to change em out on my AP calipers.
